Hearing OTT about to sign an interesting late bloomer -- Cole Schneider from UConn. He'll report to AHL Binghamton.
COLE SCHNEIDER
Connecticut
So. | LW | Williamsville, N.Y.
Key Statistics: Schneider set a UConn Division I freshman scoring record with team highs of 33 points and 20 assists. His 13 goals ranked second on the team and second in Atlantic Hockey among rookies, trailing only Scott Arnold of Niagara (16). His point total tied Taylor Holstrom of Mercyhurst for the league lead among the first-year players. Schneider played for the Topeka RoadRunners of the North American Hockey League in 2009-10, posting 25 goals and 14 assists in just 29 games. His hot hand stretched into the playoffs with 11 points in nine games. Likewise, he finished his debut collegiate season on a three-game points streak, tallying a goal and assist in a semifinal loss to RIT. He was named to the all-tourney team and the league?s all-rookie team.
What He Does: At 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, Schneider has a perfect build for a power forward. He?s got good speed and a quick release on his shot. He can score from just about anywhere in the offensive zone. Schneider was thrust into the playoff spotlight and performed quite well.
The Bigger Picture: Schneider finished last season playing alongside center Sean Ambrosie and right winger Brant Harris, and coach Bruce Marshall will likely keep the trio together at the outset of this season. Schneider impressed a lot of people at the Atlantic Hockey Final Four and should be primed for an all-star season. A future in the pros is likely, Marshall believes, but he said it?s too early to project an NHL job. Marshall does like Schneider?s work ethic and desire.
UConn coach Bruce Marshall on Schneider: ?He?s hungry. He has the eye of the tiger in him. Being on campus with guys who might get drafted in the NFL draft or the NBA draft ? he wants to elevate his game. He wants to challenge himself to be the best that he can possibly be.?

Potvin29 said:Yeah I'm gonna 'Alfie' this one and say you're pretty much guaranteed in.
Deebo said:Yea, they're in... unless they go on a 10+ game losing streak.
I feel like I've said that about an Ontario based NHL team just a few weeks ago though.
