I've always thought Marner and Tavares look more dangerous together.

And Willy and Matthews always had good chemistry.

I've never liked Matthews with Marner but maybe the stats say different?

I have the same thoughts. I think Matthews and Nylander together is deadly.

I'm not sure the complaints on Rielly are warranted. In my recollection, there was one shift where Rielly got stuck out too long and looked bad. I can't really think of any instance where he was "too soft".

Andersen was the star of that game.

Engvall looked motivated. What are the chances he stays in if Matthews comes back? Also, I kind of liked Nylander on his own with Kerfoot and Mikheyev. He was weak defensively on a couple plays, but he really embraces the "i'm the best player on the line" mentality.
Rielly was too soft on McDavid's goal. Even though it was a great tip, you simply can't give him that kind of room.
Engvall, Barabanov and Brooks will be duking it out to stay when Matthews returns.
Freddie was great.

Yeah, I don't buy the Rielly was "too soft" on the McDavid goal. Rielly comes from behind the net. McDavid comes from the high slot. Both moved into position while the shot was coming in. It's tough to say that in a bang bang play that Rielly should have been more aggressive on McDavid there. I mean, it's pretty easy to call for him to take out McDavid when you watch the replay in slow motion, but I think a lot of defensive players are falling short on that play.

Add me to the list.

Solid game for the most part. Freddy saved them early in the first period but I thought otherwise the Leafs played well. Engvall remains a mystery to me, he looks like a solid NHL player. So why is he on the outside looking in? Contract? Trying to save him for the expansion draft? The Leafs are a better team with him in the lineup. And Barabanov...he certainly isn't making a case for playing time but I don't know how much we can expect from him if he's stuck on the 4th line.
