Oilers @ Leafs - Jan. 22nd, 7:00pm - TSN4, TSN 1050

Andersen passes Cujo for 4th all time Leafs win list. Wow.

Either I was really young and thought Cujo won more or we are awful and finding and retaining good goaltenders.

This is Andersen's 5th season with the team. Joseph was only here for 4 seasons. Definitely felt like he had a longer run with the club though.

Cujo was only here for 4 years, with no 3on3 or shootouts.

Kerfoot had his best game as a Leaf, Rielly is too soft defensively,  Brodie is changing my mind, Holl steady and sure.  Where was Dermott tonight?  Like the Envall line.  Vesey should play with Kerfoot all the time.  Souperman good.

Another game where the Leafs absolutely crush shot attempts with Vesey on the ice, this time he went 17-4. 3rd time in 6 games he's been at or above 75%. And tonight it came playing primarily against Draisaitl. Must be doing something right.

Rielly is def too soft defensively. Brodie has been excellent after the first 2 games. Holl is def a second pairing D man. Dermott made a heck of a pinch on Vesey's goal who looked better playing with Kerfoot. Souperman is turning into Mr. Shorthanded threat. Hope he can pop a goal here and there.
Great win for the team.

Pretty sure a good Dermott pinch led directly to Vesey goal

Playing with Nylander and with a heavy helping of OZ starts tends to skew the shot share that way

Hyman / Tavares / Marner - looking good
Vesey / Kerfoot / Nylander looked dangerous
Mihkeyev / Engvall / Simmonds - BIG line with some speed + potential
Barabanov / Brooks / Spezza wasn't horrible in sheltered minutes

So what happens to the lines with Matthews and Thornton coming back?

I've always thought Marner and Tavares look more dangerous together.

And Willy and Matthews always had good chemistry.

I've never liked Matthews with Marner but maybe the stats say different?

I'm not sure the complaints on Rielly are warranted. In my recollection, there was one shift where Rielly got stuck out too long and looked bad. I can't really think of any instance where he was "too soft".

Andersen was the star of that game.

Engvall looked motivated. What are the chances he stays in if Matthews comes back? Also, I kind of liked Nylander on his own with Kerfoot and Mikheyev. He was weak defensively on a couple plays, but he really embraces the "i'm the best player on the line" mentality.

Rielly was too soft on McDavid's goal. Even though it was a great tip, you simply can't give him that kind of room.
Engvall, Barabanov and Brooks will be duking it out to stay when Matthews returns.
Freddie was great.
