Penguins @ Leafs - Apr. 8th, 7:00pm - CBC, TSN 1050

The only useful thing Martin did tonight was asking the ref for the puck after Kappy brings the crowd to life.

Seriously? Did you even watch the link? Martin wins the battle at speed along the wall with the Pit D along with wall to gain possession, controls it, and reverses it to Matthews to start the play. It was instrumental to the goal.

Yes, but I'm trying to be a caricature and you're cramping my style. :)

Would've liked to see Sestito given a bit more whatfor though.

When Gardiner scored on his own Net I thougth it is over...

Mike Babcock hopes Frederik Andersen to start tomorrow against Columbus.

wut?

So glad Babcock is not a doctor.

As the resident one in the room there are two very legitimate arguments here:

1) it's just typical hockey speak for, "I don't know how he is doing but I hope he is good to go"

2) Andersen got cleared of concussion protocol in the quiet room but changing the goalie over and over again is dangerous.

If he was cleared, it would have been before the 2nd intermission. I can't for a second think Babcock would have kept his medically-ok-to-play starting goaltender off the ice for the 3rd period of a basically must-win 2-2 game.

Wait, so the leafs are ahead of boston on NHL.com. Isn't ROW the tiebreaker?

First tie-breaker is technically points percentage. Since the Leafs have 1 less GP they have the edge there.

Ah, thanks CTB. I thought it was too good to be true.

"Kessel hasn't scored in 10..."

Well he's about to scor... there it is.

Yet with his 23rd of the season, he'd only be 4th on the Leafs in goal scoring.
McDavid would only be 3rd...Kessel is tied in points with Matthews..

Just to make Herman happy:

I was already happy, but this is very interesting gold. Lou will be pissed though.

Heavy shifts, shot retrievals aren't publicly tabulated quants, but they obviously contribute to Corsi/goal-generation. Good to see the analytics department has an active role in game adjustments. Surprised they don't just project a conditionally formatted spreadsheet/report template so they could avoid situations like this.

Babcock:

? Didn't smile on the bench after they clinched it last night;

and

? Doesn't use a g/d computer.

Good for the Boys, nice to be playoff bound again. Nice to be a Leaf fan again..but we all had to go thru a lot of pain to get here.
