Penguins @ Maple Leafs - Apr. 8th, 7:00pm - SN, TSN 1050

All right, I made it to Internet, ready for the 3rd, I want to see Matthews light it.

I noticed Willy has an extra big neck chain dangling there.  Seems like a safety hazard to me. I think 34 and 16 wear 'em too. One area where I would be Lou-like if I were a GM is no bling during games.

Wow, looking at the replay there you see Tavares steered the FO win toward Matthews on purpose.

Willy and Marner cooked the Penguins and made it impossible for them to change. Disgusting pass by Matthews and clean juke by McCabe to finish it off.

Bertuzzi stays off so Marner can keep it on side.

William Nylander produced zero points but played a direct role in both goals. On the first one, as noted, it was Nylander who was ready to go on the offensive-zone faceoff; he won the race to the puck and settled everything down to start the entire sequence. On the second goal, as noted, Nylander drew the penalty.

Honestly I've always been surprised that a) the league allows them and b) nobody has accidently caught their stick up one of them.

In football (soccer) it's not allowed. In fact, not even wedding rings etc are allowed. (I have a nice wedding ring horror injury story from a football match I was at back in the mid 1990s that demonstrates why).

Degloving is a terrible thing to google image search

Btw I was genuinely asking that question about the crease, I?m not sure if anyone here would know that.

I just found it odd that the player could stand behind the goalie in the blue paint before the puck has entered the crease. The whole sequence looked odd to me.

As long as there's no interference with the goalie, intentional or not, it's fine.

From the rule book:

69.1 Interference on the Goalkeeper - This rule is based on the premise that an attacking player?s position, whether inside or outside the crease, should not, by itself, determine whether a goal should be allowed or disallowed. In other words, goals scored while attacking players are standing in the crease may, in appropriate circumstances be allowed

Goals should be disallowed only if:

(1) an attacking player, either by his positioning or by contact, impairs the goalkeeper?s ability to move freely within his crease or defend his goal; or

(2) an attacking player initiates intentional or deliberate contact with a goalkeeper, inside or outside of
his goal crease. Incidental contact with a goalkeeper will be permitted, and resulting goals allowed, when such contact is initiated outside of the goal crease, provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such contact. The rule will be enforced exclusively in accordance with the on-ice judgement of the Referee(s),

Thanks both. I was looking for it in the rule book and lost patience.

The hockey Canada rulebook actually says that you can?t stand in the crease prior to the puck entering the crease so I thought the nhl would be the same.
