Phil Kessel

Even the really annoying Bruins fan I work with ihas grown tired of the "Kessel trade" dialogue. I mean, even HE agrees the best trades in sports are the ones that work out well for BOTH teams and feels this is exactly the situation we're looking at here.

One can still refer this to all the other Leaf losses to the Bruins.  One almost gets the impression that Boston knew it could win (going by their history against the Leafs since the Kessel trade).

Not that anyone should be surprised by your attempts to form a narrative that is contradicted by the facts of the matter but before this season the Bruins record against the Leafs post-Kessel trade was at 6 wins and 6 losses.

Wow. Even a guy that none of us know or have spoken to agrees? Well, that settles it for me.

Kidding aside, I couldn't disagree more. If the Leafs make a trade with a division rival I don't want it to be win-win. I want the other side to be broken, bitter and on the verge of bankruptcy because of it. The best trades the Leafs can make are the ones where we leave the other fans advocating for their GM's to be fired.

Or hey, maybe Julien actually just respects his abilities and maturation as a player and there's no secret meaning or reason for the timing of his praise?

How dare you take things at face value?!?!?

Such as what?

That's what.

He said there's NO secret meaning. Why would he provide you with possible secret meanings that he doesn't think are there? That's insane.

Unfortunately, the Leafs were on the broken and bitter side.

Let's just say, much ado about nothing.  I actually liked what Julien said about Kessel, and it is true, he is a much more mature player, as streaky a scorer as he is, though.  All in all, Julien spoke the truth, it's just that some people may wonder why an opposition coach praises a former player,  who reportedly did not necessarily get along too well with this former coach of his.  That's all I was trying to point out.

Huh... Did not know this;

Speaking of parents, did you know Phil Kessel's dad was a QB for the Calgary Stampeders in the early 80s. Also tried out for the Redskins.

There it is, but as my buddy pointed out when I got back to Gillam, Kessel is going to either get hurt badly or traded now as I have a bad streak with signed jerseys :/

Colaiacovo - shortly after he started getting injured a lot and eventually traded.
Orr - a few months after he got in a fight with Parros and hasn't really played since.
Cujo - I don't really count this one as bad luck, got it when he signed back with the Leafs.
Pogge - He was traded a few months after.
Kessel - time will tell

I really want to get Reimer's autograph on my Optimus Reim jersey, but maybe I shouldn't.
