Pre-Season: Leafs @ Sabres - Sept. 21, 7:00pm - CBC, TSN 1050

What a crazy shootout!
Reimer was impressive and had a much more aggressive approach then in the past where he would sit back in the crease.

Okay, wait a minute, hold on.. let me get this straight:

The Leafs caused the other team to blow a 3rd period lead... and won in a shootout... in which Reimer stopped 14 for 14?

WHAT IS THIS SORCERY?

The 29 shots without a goal, is the longest goalless shootout in NHL history.

Rangers' goal was the highlight of the night!  Not to the Sabres Enroth!  (*sarcastically*) Thanks for the slash, buster!!

It's preseason and all, but Gunnarsson's lack of attempt on the shoot-out bothered me.
Personally, I'm not missing Grabovski, although it would be so nice to see Franson getting some training camp/preseason under his belt.

In Enroth's defense, I think the puck Ranger kicked hit him in the head and he didn't appreciate it.

With an untamed shot like that, no-one really knows where its going.

It's the point where most people think this shootout has dragged on too long... lets move forward already.. with a little added humour.  8)

Fraser gets walked around because he can't handle speed.  Reimer gets beat high glove side.

It continues to amaze me how much people hate Leaf dmen, so much so that people often like to imagine up negatives.

It wasn't Fraser who was walked around - it was Stuart Percy. Frazer starting coming across from the far side and took away the path to the net. Pysyk's only option was to shoot as everyone else was covered and lucky for him Reimer never picked up on that and stayed back deep in his net.

BTW - Frazer was on the ice for both Leafs goals for with a nice play on the first one to get the puck through with two of his guys there waiting.

I swear people here would still be complaining even if we had 6 Lidstrom clones back there.

I agree bakedapples.  I really like Fraser as the 6th dman who blocks shots, chips the puck off the glass, is mean with the opposition forwards in front of the Leafs net and played 17 minutes a night and can fight the other team's 4 - 5 minute playing goon.

Chara gets walked around on occasion as well BTW.

It bothers me that it bothers you. As you said it was pre-season and Gunnar is a defenseman (with limited offensive ability) who was the 14th shooter for the Leafs. He will likely never have a shootout attempt ever again - preseason or not. And I'm not sure what you mean by lack of an attempt - are you saying lack of effort? If you were bothered by that then I'm really surprised you didn't comment on Ranger's "attempt".

Gunnar came in with speed and no doubt it was a horrendous shot, but as one can imagine Carl Gunnarsson probably doesn't often practice shootout attempts or get many breakaways.

It's one thing to have criticisms but I mean critiquing a defenseman for his form in the shootout in a pre-season game just seems a bit ridiculous to me.
