Preseason GDT 1: Leafs vs Sens W4-2

riff raff said:
A little late with this but I can't help but think that a preseason game isn't the place to have your memorial to lost friends. The first game of the season, when there is a full crowd and television audience seems more appropriate.

I would imagine they'll do something for the home opener as well.

Looks decent.

I'm in Tokyo for the week.  It's 8:27am.  For me all the JustinTV links posted so far will play for a few minutes and then say "we've reached maximum number of streams for your country".  Does anyone have a stream that is not through JustinTV?

FYI -- probably not hard to get to the stream limit here.  Apparently Tokyo metro area has 31 million people -- roughly the popluation of Canada packed in to one city.

I don't think it's going to be too long before he's playing full time for the Leafs..

I wouldn't expect it to happen until next season - a full season as a pro will be a big help - but, I don't think it'll be much longer than that.

I agree, however he could be one of those guys that forces Burke to make a move. Burke will definitely have the pieces if a deal falls in his lap and it somehow ends up promoting Gardiner up to fill a space.

the one clip I did see briefly of the game seemed to show gardiner passing to Kadri for a goal.  But armstrong got?  How is that?  What happened?

The puck apparently never got to Kadri, Armstrong actually knocked it in first.

Yup, still nice play by Gardiner and Liles, good to see Kadri in position too.

This is my first look at Gardiner, and I like what I see.  He seems NHL-ready on the offensive side, but I am interested to see more of what he looks like when tested defensively.

Fair. Looks ok otherwise so far.

Yeah. No real complaints about his game otherwise, so far. Hasn't really been tested, but, has been good enough.

He looks like he's taking up a lot of the net and then sometimes looks so small, weird. One thing so far his blocker wing looks much better, seems to me it's adjusted by something as radical as 4 to 6 inches pretty much continuously. He's more contained as well, good to see.

The sens D is weak tea, can't put a lot of stock but the Leafs played well by comparison. Ryan sacrificed, Colborne looked sharp. Good first for them.
