CBC should have a yes or no mute option if you want to hear Glen Healy

I think I'd extend that to Jim "Take that Ben Eager" Hughson with his 'fakes/takes' and Craig Simpson's frequent reminders that the Leafs need to avoid a slow start in October and November if they want to make the playoffs.

I guess that's why I do find myself using the mute button. Makes me appreciate Bob Cole and Harry Neale when they were in their prime all the more.

heh.  Healy went to Western Mich.  That tells you a lot.

Did he go on and on about the new Leafs assistants the way he fell over himself because Detroit hired a new assistant?

Also, I haven't been watching, has Detroit got a penalty tonight?

There's a reason Healy fancies himself a virtuoso on a musical instrument that relies on filling a bag with gas then letting it out in a series of screeling wails.

EDIT: And no, DET is not to be penalized.  Not in the master TV ratings plan.

Note to self on Saturday nights: Kill volume on TV and listen to the radio. Healey is intolerable. I can't believe I went to all this effort to get the game on TV here.

I've become pretty good at tuning him out. His voice is now like white noise to me.

I'm not there yet.

40 oz of hard stuff will fix that

Millen or Healy - who is worse?

I say Healy. Healy is arrogant and often uninformed... plus annoying. Millen is just sometimes uninformed plus annoying... I don't pick up much (if any) arrogance from him.

Phaneuf trying to beat three players on the PP?

Great physical specimen but appears to have little between the ears.  A bit of a dinosaur really!

To continue the dinosaur vein, much as I would not critically analyze an episode of Barney, I would caution over-analyzing one rush of a pre-season game.

So, is it time to sum up the preseason?

1.  Special teams: still Wilsonian in their effectiveness.

2.  Leafs forwards: Not fully present except the Mac/Grab/Kuli line.

3.  Reimer not all that stellar; Gus has played as well or better?

Healy, because he has a legitimate dislike on for a team he broadcasts every week.

To be honest I think that's just Healy's natural disposition - he craps on everyone.

Scrivens has been the best goaltender in camp.

Perhaps he will be this year's Reimer......

"This is a tough pill to swallow"

Really Healy?

The Leafs, without Connolly, Grabbo, Macarthur, Schenn, Franson, Gunnarsson, and Lombardi playing his first game in a year on the top line, and AHL players like Zigomanis, Crabb, really must be devastated that they lost tonight.

I'm sure they're shaking in their boots at the thought of having to play a real game on Thurs.

What an idiot.

Remember Ed Belfour that one pre-season?

That's a good reference. Let's cross our fingers......

Seriously. At this point, my concern level about on-ice performances is zero. Two or three weeks from now, if the same things are continuing . . . then there's cause for concern.
