Preseason: Habs @ Leafs - Sept. 25th, 7:30pm - TSN4, TSN 1050

Matthews again with the dangles and the hand eye finish.

Martin was on with Nylander crashing the net on that play.

I feel pretty confident in saying the Habs won't be winning many games without Price in net, or when Price allows more than 1 goal.

So why isn't high-skating a penalty? I get it doesn't happen often, but it's probably the most dangerous action in the game.

Yeah Ros?n was pretty close to dying there. I think the chin strap actually took the hit and prevented heavy damage.

Babcock trolling the fans by playing Martin with Matthews and Nylander. Play totally died on his stick.

Lol. Matthews with an uncontested wrister to beat Montoya.

Beautiful defence there by Weber.

Fun view.

I imagine mostly because it's almost entirely accidental.

So are virtually all high sticking calls. Accidental/careless.

Lol. Matthews streaking in on a three on two with Hyman and Nylander deliberately fires the pass through Hyman to get to Willy.

Who know if the Leafs would have picked him (although with the Hunter connection he definitely would have been on their radar), but Mete getting picked 1 spot before the Leafs picked Keaton Middleton is going to bug me for a long time it seems. I would have probably even picked him with our 3rd round pick instead of J.D. Greenway.

I've often thought that it's probably for the same reason that high sticking isn't called if it's accidental on a follow through.

Maybe, but the majority of high sticks are at least the result of intentional actions gone wrong. High skates are mostly the result of a player falling because of the actions of another player.

How do you matchup against the Leafs this year? I mean, after Matthews' line you've got Marner's line. After Mitch you've got Kadri/Marleau/Komarov. It's a nightmare :D

But if a player falls and high sticks a guy, it's still a penalty because he has to be in control of his stick in the air. Didn't Belak get suspended like 8 games because something like that exactly happened?
