R1, G5: Bruins vs. Maple Leafs - Apr. 30th, 7:00pm - SN, TSN 1050

So, what do people expect tonight? Probably the Leafiest thing would be to come out gangbusters, score a bunch of goals the next 2 games, force a game 7 and then get smothered (maybe losing in OT for good measure). Or, do they pull a no-show and go out meekly tonight?

I kind of expect them to have a good game.

That's the frustrating thing about this team.  We have seen when they are "ON" that they can be great team.

It's the Jekyll & Hyde nature of this team.

I think they win tonight or lose on a weird bounce goal. Of course again it depends on health. I don't think any of our top 3 guys is healthy. I don't think Rielly is healthy either. He looks slow to me. They'll need Woll to hopefully steal one but that's going to be a very tall order. I don't think they played him enough when he came back. He's played 1 period(5 shots against) since April 16th.

Anyway GO LEAFS GO

Yes I've thought Rielly has looked slow as well...

AM34 updates? So strange, Nylander and now Matthews?
I would say not great. Apparently he wasn't on the ice very long. I think he plays but at what percentage. Probably low.

I thought I was crazy for thinking this too. But the NHL's new edge player tracking thing has his top skating speed and his number of speed bursts both well below his norms over the past few years.

Would certainly explain why he's seemed much less effective this season.

I am totally Numb today, don't know which team will show up tonight, if any of the 50Mi players will show up.

Anyway, Go Leafs Go!!!

Ug, I hope this is not a trend. We have 7 more years of Rielly at 7.5?

His skating numbers were normal in the regular season, the dip has only been in the playoffs.

I also think he was fine by his standards in the regular season. Brodie's performance probably dragged him down more than anything.

Getting off the ice after 8 minutes of a pre-optional practice skate wasn't a very good sign.

Obviously this is still TBD but damn, what a crappy turn of events. Matthews struggling with whatever it is he has. Nylander struggling with whatever it is he has. Marner struggling with a probably still lingering high ankle sprain. Rielly struggling with something probably impacting his skating. Tavares struggling with aging.

Thing is, while it?s absolutely unfortunate and really disappointing, it can?t be allowed to be used as an excuse to do the same thing over again next season?

That is my biggest fear at this point. Though...even if they go that route, there is only 1 more season until the Tavares money (and maybe Marner) comes off the books and _real_ change is pretty much forced.

Time to channel your inner Alyn McCauley.

Roberts and McCaulley carried the Leafs that year, but it was a way different team, too bad that OT loss against Carolina on a bad coverage by Mogs, and if I recall correctly, O'Neal buried in the OT winner for them.

Nothing but bad luck for this year's playoffs. Marner is coming back from a high ankle sprain. McMann is injured, Willy misses the first 3 games and Matthews after arguably his best playoff game comes down with an illness that has been lingering since that game.
So, the Leafs win tonight right.

Martin G?linas scored, I was there. Sundin tied with the empty net too, loudest I have seen the ACC and then the quietest I have ever seen as well. I can vividly recall the goal light going on and hearing very clearly the Canes celebrating.

Gelinas scored the goal to eliminate the leafs in game 6.

Carolina won 3 OT games that series, O'Neill scored the winner in one of the other 2.
