We got 'em right where we want 'em.

The pressure is all on BOS.  They don't want to have to travel back to TO and they certainly don't want to risk a possible G7.  If I were Carlyle I'd tell Gardiner to skate the puck into the offensive zone first chance he gets and keep doing it.  Everyone crash the net and hope that Reimer can stop the inevitable off-man rush that will result.  In other words, play a high-risk, high-reward game and hope for the best.

On other note, Krejci had 10 pts in 4 games?  I knew he was having a great series but that's halfway to a Conn Smythe if BOS can keep going.  Holy wah.

Having let the split in Boston get my hopes up, the two losses in TO confirmed what I expected going in. Boston in 5 or 6. I'd like to see Toronto win one before going out, but, even if they don't, I'm happy to watch to see how they're progressing -- without being sucked into the anxiety of the must-win game #4.

Losing two a row in the playoffs never felt so good. The window's just opening, and they're already showing they can compete with more solidly built, better experienced teams. I'm quite excited to see what the core can do before Nonis starts building around them.

5-2 Leafs. We get back to winning the special teams, either Grabbo or Kadri breaks out, and Seguin finally gets one.

I didn't realize that either until someone here mentioned it. That prompted me to add that section. Three 3-point games for him.

Huh. Reality check here.

The Leafs are a giveaway machine. They are their own worst enemy.
The poise is not there.

Don't expect a win.
If on the other hand they had drawn the Cnd's or Sen's we would be onto the 2nd round.

The luck of the draw.
They need 3 wins straight.
Not happening.

More ice-time for Gardiner, less of O'Byrne and Fraser.
Dion plays conservative and makes less mistakes.
At the end of the day, I say Leafs win 3-2

I think we win in a bit of a rout, we will get all the bounces tonight.  We will head home feeling like a win on home ice will take it to 7 and having just harpooned the whale in Boston that 7 games surely will be a reality.  Let down game in Toronto and Bruins win in 6 but all things considered a good first taste of playoff hockey.

So is Orr confirmed in the lineup?

If so, I know it may be somewhat of an inconsequential criticism in the grand scheme of things but I still can't fathom this move. An affective 4th line certainly wouldn't hurt and having him on the line not only reduces that affectiveness but leads to less minutes for quality guys like McLement and Komarov. If he's not fighting (0 fights thus far in the playoffs) what function is he providing?

Sarcasm, right?

Yeah, I would be very comfortable if I was Boston with a 3-1 lead with the next game at home.  I think Gm 6 in Toronto you would see them feeling more pressure.

As such, it's really just pressure to avoid pressure, if anything, as well as to get the series over as soon as possible and in front of the home crowd.

I could see Toronto going either of two ways:  One is that they'll clearly be defeated going into the game and resigned to too big a challenge to overcome, the other that they'll compete like a true underdog that wants to defy the expectation that they're going to lose.

Big night tonight for Kessel.  I'm sure he doesn't want to go out with a whimper in front of the Boston crowd.

Regardless of tonights result, the Leafs have done better than Nucks and Habs this year which in itself is already somewhat satisfying. I did not expect the Leafs to win the series and they actually did pretty well against B?s. Right now, they can just play the spoilers and push Boston to earn the win. I would be really proud of them if they force Bruins to travel back to Toronto. If they do, you never know what happens.
The Leafs are huge underdogs being down 3-1, hopefully they will feel no burden on their shoulders, will pay attention to the details, will work hard and will be rewarded. Bruins are good, maybe best in the East, but they are certainly beatable, if the Leafs dont kill themselves as they have tendency to do.

Hey, this team has been good at bounce back games all season. They rarely went on three game losing streaks, so no reason for that to stop now. Play hard and win tonight! We know they can do it. Looking forward to game 6 on Sunday. :)

If the Leafs lose tonight how have they done better than the Habs ?

With nearly everyone predicting a Leaf win tonight, I have to think they will lose. (At least that's how I play the stock market, and usually come ahead.)

It's been a better than expected series for the Leafs, even if they only get the one win. Encouraging play for the youngest, most inexperienced team in the NHL.

They have lots of playoff years ahead of them and will make a splash sooner than expected. As I stated earlier in another thread, Nonis didn't make any significant trades to improve their playoff chances, and decided to run with the youth. I'm good with it, and certainly didn't expect an upset against this Bruins team that, in my mind, should win the east this year.

While I don't expect a comeback for the ages, this team is showing tons of promise for the coming years, and I'm finally proud to be a fan again!

GLG!

You are bad.

So is Peter D. just below me.

Unfortunately, I think Boston dominates from start to finish and end the Leafs' season tonight.  I can see a 4-1 victory for them.  On the cusp of advancing and a hostile crowd behind them, I see the Bruins just coming in waves that will be too much for the Leafs to handle.

I really hope I'm wrong, and this has been a resilient Leafs team all season long, so pulling out a victory wouldn't be overly surprising.
