He's not the only one.

You have buddies who are Sharks fans? Where do you live?
Edit: oh California, that makes sense now.

This is how comic book bad guys are born.

It will?

And we have got to start winning a few draws, or it will come back to bite us.

No it won't. Not for me, at least.

They defeated themselves.
You've described it succinctly. In fact, when the Leafs were up 4-1, I cringed knowing their penchant for having blown leads all season long.
It seemed that after Lucic lambasted Gunnarson into the boards, (should have been a penalty there), the 'momentum' changed. Having Lucic & Chara parked on Reimer's doorstep with nary a Leaf in sight spoke volumes on Boston' ability to create havoc & distraction that led to their goals. Reminded one of Game I when the Leafs looked confused and (mentally) intimidated.
No leadership in the last few minutes of the game was evident. No shot-blocking, getting-down-on-the-ice to force the opposing player off-angle, etc., similar to the way the New York Rangers use that technique quite effectively. Nothing.
I feel sorry for Reimer. His teammates left him to roost in the ensuing craziness. In the final crucial moments, when he needed it the most, they failed him miserably.
I had no expectations that the Leafs would even have come this far against the Bruins. They probably exceeded the expectations of Leaf fans everywhere. It's just that no one wants their team to implode the way they did. That's the ugly part none of us will want to remember.
Oh well, in the words of Randy Carlyle, time to move on.

Going to totally agree with the both of you on this one. I know I seem to get down on this team a lot when I see glaring mistakes or deficiencies I seem to point them out and continually mention them. Last nights ending was exactly how you guys pointed it out. Running around in our end for long periods of time far too often this year almost looking like we were shorthanded. I've been harping about defensive zone coverage and the inability to get the puck out of our end since Wilson was here. That has not changed and I must say we did seem to hold on to wins this year compared to past years but the weaknesses were still there. I don't understand what Nonis, Carlyle and brass see game in game out and did nothing to address it. Players not willing to take a hit and get the puck out of our end. We saw it on most nights. I knew we would not have a answer for Chara and Lucic. Regular season means nothing, and all the talk about Lucic's crappy season doesn't mean anything today. He was running around all series banging bodies, flattening guys and no-one responded. How can I guy be left alone in front of our net like he was. Someone should have been flattening him and getting him out of there. Feel bad for Reimer almost wish he would pull a Billy Smith and taken care of matters himself because we don't have anyone that could. Maybe Fraser could have helped in that dept. Tough team during the year means nothing. Playoffs are a whole different ball game. Also Cherry was 100% right about leaving the points open. Terrible at that and not only in this series but all year. Doesn't the coaching staff see this. Leafs need to address their defensive zone coverage, find a #1 C and would love to see them pickup a tough stay at home defenceman who can clear the front of the net. Rest of this young team is fine. Burke has put the pieces in place. Few tweaks and the team will be competitive for a while as long as we don't start losing some pieces. Again you guys are bang on your assessment just don't understand why it wasn't addressed. Still awfully proud of this team. Did not expect 7 games against the Bruins who although we competed a bit better against them this year, they have had our number. Next year will be even better folks. Count on it. Go Leafs Go.
