Reimer out at least another ten days. Leafs wont rush him back.

Darn it. Did he have a setback? They were talking like he'd be back soon ...

Ron wilson says that james reimer is still 10 days away and that he doesn't expect mikhail grabovski to play on this trip.

Wilson says Reimer won't play for around 10 days from today. All about getting his conditioning up. #leafs

I think you're uncharacteristically antsy there, CW ;)

A little.  :)

#Leafs Reimer said after practice he feels great but would not say when he might be back

That made me feel a little better. It doesn't appear to be due to setback which was my main concern.

Ugh.

I'm penning Tuesday Dec 6, at home against the Devils as his potential return date.  That's in 6 games.

My guess is he'll be back in net for the 2nd half of the back to back with Boston. It's a little less than 10 days at that point, but, I just have a feeling he'll be good to go by then.

How do they go from a few more days to 10? Grabbo as well.

Either the twitheads and mainstream media people are all idiots (Ok some like with Simmons that's a given) or these guys (Leafs) just plain out lie to us or seriously don't know anything.  >:(

Or you could just take when they say 'few days' as a guess or an estimate and not take it as written in stone, because it's not, and they never said it was.

Lack of (good) communication by the Leafs and the media. Last week when Reimer started skating again, Wilson said he's at least 7-10 days away from playing....the media took it as he'll be back within 7-10 days.

I think Wilson is sick of talking about it so he over-estimates and hopes itll keep the media happy for a bit.

Listen to the interview with Reims from after todays practice...hes not that far out...I bet hes back for one, if not both, of the Bruins games...

From Mirtle's column today:

Reimer?s return delayed

Leafs starting netminder James Reimer was on the ice for his first full practice in a month in Dallas, taking shots for roughly an hour while Jonas Gustavsson ? who will start against the Stars ? and Ben Scrivens shared the other goal.

Wilson said Reimer?s recovery from concussion-like symptoms will keep him out until at least until late next week, with the earliest he would return being Dec. 3 against the Boston Bruins.

?This is a process so let?s not rush it,? Wilson said. ?He?s probably 10 days or so away. This is going to be a slow process. When we want him to go in there, we want him to be 100 per cent in terms of stopping the puck.?

?When you get back, you want to be 120 per cent,? Reimer said, one-upping his coach. ?I want to come in how I left off. Not kind of feel my way for a couple of games. I want to come back in and start winning again.?

Reimer sounded more optimistic than Wilson. I heard all about the "process" talk from Wilson and then Reimer was "i'd love to get in at the end of the road trip, or else Wednesday would we great".

The delayed part is a misnomer. It's always been about 10 days from when Reimer spoke with the media coming back. It's delayed in the sense that he's talking with the media but he's not going to start in any games right away, not that he's suffered a setback.

Yeah. It's kind of hard to delay something that never had a set date in the first place.

That's what I though when I read that.

According to Sportsnet, Reimer is slated as backup material Saturday when the Leafs play the Bruins in Boston.

This makes no sense to me, if he is able to dress then get him between the pipes.  I don't need to see our starting goalie playing titilywinks on the bench when he is ready for action and we are playing in Boston.

I'd rather they start Reimer against the Rags on Monday, not sure what the benefit of having him on the bench against Boston is.

According to media sources Sportsnet and canoe, Wilson did say that Reimer would backing up Gustavvson Saturday night in Boston... " ...and then we'll make a decision.".

He mentioned that it made logical sense to start Reimer in goal Monday nght against the Rangers in New York.

The fact that Reimer will accomany the team on the road
trip to Boston and New York means that he will get to
start in one of these games, or, that in the event that
Gustavvson is pulled.

In the meantime, the LeafsNation anxiously awaits the return of "Optimus Reim"!

I would rather give him the start against the Bruins.  He is supposed to be our #1 goalie, and the Leafs need to beat the Bruins at some point during the season.  If the Leafs face the Bruins in the playoffs, the Bruins will have the edge knowing they punked the Leafs all season long.

Kind of like how Ottawa used to punk the Leafs all season long and then lose in the playoffs?  OK, wishful thinking.  ;D

He could be 100% ready but we're being (sorry for the cliche) 110% sure. From a business standpoint, we're paying him to be a NHL goaltender so let him earn it in the NHL... Even if it's backup duty right now.
