Resigning Zach Hyman?

What are everybody's thoughts on bringing back Zach and at what price are you comfortable with?

What is Zach Hyman worth on the open market and what is he worth to the Leafs?

I don?t think there really is a viable contract that is going to work.  I don?t want 7 years on his body as that would be an anchor contract in the back half.  The only way you do that is you get a big steal of a contract.  5 million is an overpay that the roster can?t afford.

It sucks because he?s a valuable player to the team but not at that cost

Honestly, anything over 3.5 or thereabouts and I think you're better served going onto the free agent market and seeing if you can find someone who can do roughly the same job or at least be a different kind of valuable third wheel.

I agree with this. I like Hyman a lot but not at 5 million.

I'd do 3.5 for 4 years.

Agree x2. Love Hyman but not that much. If it was even possible to resign Foligno, I'd take him at 3 before Hyman at 5.

I also Agree. Hyman has probably peaked.  Wayne Simmonds is a perfect example,  when he was Hymans age he was coming off a 31 goal season.  He had one more good season then the bottom fell out

Yup injuries caught up with him. Hyman said in his presser that he was totally healthy for the playoffs so I'm taking him at face value. He looked very slow to me, by his standards, out there against Montreal.

I'm not sure you'll convince someone who scores at the same rate as William Nylander to take half as much money.  :-\

Yeah, he was slow in the playoffs.  I agree too, like him a lot but they can assign Galchenyuk to that role is need be.

Yup I'd put him with Matthews and Marner, Robertson with JT.

Well then you say goodbye...I'd rather pickup two 2.5 mill guys then pay him 5 mill...

Ya I agree, Zach may be having another 2 good seasons and then I think you start to see his best before date. Against Columbus and Montreal, he did not impress.

Add in Boston the year before. I know he was hurt but if you're playing you need to do something. No excuses when you're in the line up.

Injuries are also starting to become an issue with Hyman.

And the body isn't going to get better as he ages.

Can we sign him then not protect him and Seattle take him?
Yes as long as he doesn't have a NMC or of he does he waives it. I don't see him getting signed before the draft.

This is certainly a scenario I could do without witnessing next season?

Man Button what a genius. Guy is a fool. Connor was on pace for over 150 points this season WITHOUT Zach Hyman. Who woulda thunk. LMAO.
