Round 1: Canadiens (A1) vs. Senators (W1)

Just seems to be a lot of focus on whether or not Stone is hurt or not, and defining what type of injury he has.

Ya, which is important because Murray contacted the NHL with the "diagnoses" that night in hopes it would influence or lengthen a suspension.  I'm just shocked that a professional organization in the NHL would do something like this, and then whine about it all the next day.  It's the type of thing you'd expect from fans, not team management.  Thankfully the NHL didn't buy it but the general consensus everywhere I see is that he sustained some sort of fracture, which isn't true.  Even in this thread someone says he broke his wrist - this is the reaction the senators were hoping to get.  I just really find it pathetic.

Players are getting hacked all the time, blocking shots, taking hits, there's probably 5-6 players per team playing with bone bruises or "microfractures" to ribs, ankles, feet etc.

I think really what happened is Stone, Cameron and Murray microfractured their feelings.

From DGB yesterday - I think he nailed it with this one:

Remember yesterday?s playoff preview? My prediction for this series was ?Something ridiculously controversial will happen in this series, and two hypersensitive fan bases are going to lose their freaking minds over it.? Yeah, that didn?t take long.

There?s no nice way to put this: There may not be a combination of teams in the league that are any worse suited to handle this kind of situation. Montreal fans and media are obsessed with the team?s history and status, yet weirdly predisposed to view everything through the lens of shadowy conspiracy; Senators fans and media are almost cripplingly insecure about their place in the hockey world and prone to overreact to even the tiniest controversies. That?s an awfully bad pairing for this sort of thing, and if you?re not directly rooting for one of the teams involved in this series, you may want to just check out now. It?s going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

Yeah, a real organization reacts with...what's the word I'm looking for.....class.

I would say that Cameron and Murray both suffered more of a major spiral fracture of their feelings!  8)

Final Score:  Montreal 3  Ottawa 2  OT  Montreal leads series 2 games to 0.

P.K. Subban and Max Pacioretty (who returned to the lineup following sometime spent on the injured list) had a goal each, while Alex Galchenynk notched the OT winning goal, as Montreal took a firm and commanding series lead.

Oh, by the way, nothing much wrong with top Ottawa forward Mark Stone, he the recipient of a P.K. Subban slash to the wrist in Game 1, as he contributed for the losing cause with two assists.

Poor Andrew Hammond.  Magic or luck are certainly not on his side so far in this series, as the "Hamburglar" is being "Hamburgled".  While the Senators' netminder has played generally well,  these playoffs are quite proving to be a whole new season.

Game 3 is Sunday in Ottawa at 7:00PM ET.

MICRO-assists don't count when you LOSE the game!

There's no way PK's goal should have went in...He hit the middle of the net, meaning Hamburglar got out of the way...pathetic goaltending. Stand there and it hits you..

Cox just said that Anderson was so-so for the sens this season. Had a .923 save percentage. Put him 7th among goalies in save percentage leaders.

Nice story about the sens organization stepping up and helping out a couple of girls who watched a game at the Bell Centre and had a less-than-pleasant experience because of a bunch of stupid fans:

Katie Kerrick, 19, and her sister are Montreal Canadiens fans ? when they?re not playing the Ottawa Senators. But when their hometown team visits Bell Centre, they throw on their Sens gear and pull for the visiting team.

One such visit was Game 2 of their Atlantic Division playoff series on Friday night ? a game during which she said they suffered assault and harassment from Canadiens fans, with Bell Centre employees doing nothing to help them.

...

The Senators? Well, they stepped up to make things right for Kerrick. The team announced that she?ll attend Saturday night?s Game 3 against the Canadiens in owner Eugene Melnyk?s private suite. Which is pretty awesome.

It doesn't excuse Habs fans acting like, well, Habs fans but I'll never understand people who wear jerseys to away games. That is a lot more faith in the common decency of your fellow man than I have.

Some people just like getting beer poured on them, I guess.

This has been a great game, but apparently boarding isn't a thing anymore? I've seen 5 or 6 really dangerous hits there from both sides that absolutely should have been called.

I've been to Philly, Buffalo, and Ottawa and never had a problem wearing my jersey. (Granted, Ottawa is pretty much a home game)

I think a lot depends on what you look like, where you're sitting, and who you're with. I can see how two girls by themselves would run into trouble.
