Round 2: St.Louis Blues vs Los Angeles Kings

Elliott had a mini implosion there on the third goal, put the puck over the glass seconds later. LA is playing well too, the first whiff of a sweep?

Wow, St. Louis looks like a different team so far this period, Stewart with this second to bring them within one.

Well there goes 3 of the 7 guys I had left in the pool  >:( Anyhoo;

Kings are first eighth seed in NHL history to eliminate a one and two seed. They become third No. 8 seed to advance past second round.

That's kind of crazy that there have only been 3 teams to reach the conference finals given that all three have been post-lockout.  Mediocrity!...I mean parity!

Well, that was unexpected.

Did not expect a sweep, but I also didn't think the Blues had the horses/talent to go much further.

The Kings have one heckuva lineup if we sit back and look at it.

Quick could be in the running for the Conn Smythe.

I'd go so far to say that he's the front-runner right now.

If Carter and Richards win the Cup in LA, while Philly bows out in the second round, how much venom will be directed towards Flyers GM Paul Holmgren?

If that's Burke in Toronto on the wrong end of that, he's tarred, feathered and catapulted out of the city.

I would say fairly in that case.  If Carter/Richards win the Cup in LA, I'd have to say they weren't the problem in Philly.

I think Quick has the potential to win the Conn Smythe even if they lose in the cup final.

That's what I'm implying. They'll have to put up a fight, though. If they get there and get swept or lose in 5, he probably doesn't.

The Kings pounded every Blues player they could find, they played St.Louis' game, had far superior goaltending, whereas Elliott was a disappointment in net for the Blues, and, L.A.'s scoring lines were going at full tilt.

If one were go ask a Bob McKenzie on who should be considered Conn Smythe material for the Kings so far, his response was none than other L.A. captain Dustin Brown.  Quick should also be considered, but, he didn't really have to do too much against the Blues (when he did, he excelled).

Brown was the 'sparkplug' against the Canucks, and now against the Blues.  Funny thing, this is a guy that L.A. almost didn't want to keep.  I suppose Brown has plenty of motivation in proving that he belongs to L.A. for the long term.

Quick for the Conn Smythe? Maybe. We're only half way there so who knows but Quick might be runner up to Mike Smith.

Edit:

Quick: 8W, 1L, 542min, 1SO, 14GA, 274SHA, 1.55GAA, .949SV%
Smith: 8W, 3L, 710min, 2SO, 21GA, 400SHA, 1.77GAA, .948SV%

Man, looking at those numbers, I don't think it's Quick's at all to lose.
