sens @ Leafs - Feb. 15th, 7:00pm - TSN4, TSN 1050

The sens should have to forfeit this win because of Smith breaking COVID protocols.

(but seriously, coaches, at least while the cameras are on pretend you give a damn about these protocols)

I really just don't know how Tavares makes a play like that with 10 seconds left in the period. Inexplicable and inexcusable. Some lucky bounces and clueless positioning from Andersen certainly didn't help either. Be nice to see Campbell back.

Can't put that collapse on Andersen. Not in the least.

Actually I mostly put it on Tavares and bad bounces and then added that "Andersen didn't help either." Not exactly a scathing criticism; just an acknowledgment that he's looking shaky.

Admittedly, I'm a goalie defender so I tend to side with the tender. I do notice that he's a little over-aggressive lately. I also think he is being overworked. Hutchinson should have started last night.

With that said, On all 3 goals in the 3rd, Toronto was caught puck watching and scrambling. Not a single player in front of the net ended up on their rear ends. Toronto's defensive zone play has not looked great all year but from the time they went up 2-0 last night to the end of the game, you could see it was off.

I think that's fair and I agree, would like to have seen Hutchinson start. Still, Freddie's save percentage is sitting at .901 and it was quite a bit under .900 for a good month+ to start the season. He definitely could pick it up a bit.

All it takes is one more save in regulation. I think he could've done that.

LOL we can both play that game.

-All it takes is one less give away
-All it takes is one more defensive stop
-All it takes is one more goal scored

I've been working with goalies for over 20 years. Andersen's style has never given me warm and fuzzy's. I may get hung for this, but I also didn't like Belfour(when he was with the Leafs), nor did I like Joseph.

Though, the defensive play last night is a key example of why his Save % is low. Lack of defensive give a crap always leads to a goalie with poor numbers.

My biggest problem goal with Andersen last night was the first one. It was a good backhand, and backhands are hard to read, but an NHL goalie needs to stop that shot.

Let me guess, you're a Ken Wregget guy.

I remember that 5-0 loss.  They were up 5-0 on the Blues going into the 3rd period and gave up 5 goals in the last 15 minutes of the 3rd period and then gave up the OT winner in the first 30 seconds of OT.

I remember that as well!

Yup! Same here. I watched it on the old Sony CRT in my parents bedroom!

I'm not sure what you're getting at. They could have scored one more in regulation and the game wouldn't have went to overtime.

Though I have fond memories of Wregget and Bester(those poor guys), I always had goalies outside the organization that I was more fond of. My go to guy for the Leafs was probably Potvin. But even he was lacking IMO.

Belfour and Joseph were good, but I was more of a fan of Belfour when he played for Chicago, and I never liked Joseph's style of play.

I'm glad somebody brought up the EBUG because on the shame-o-meter this isn't even in the same time zone.

All things considered I have to give the Ottawa media some credit here.  This morning they were twisting the knife a little by calling it a historical comeback.  It checks out as previously the Sens had never come back being 4 goals down, so it technically fits.

This afternoon the guys on the radio said they fully expect a response from the Leafs on Wednesday because they are one of the best, if not the best team in the league right now.  That's not normally the narrative they would build around a game like this.
