sens @ Leafs - Feb. 18th, 7:30pm - CBC, Fan 590

We had a chance to make some ground on the Habs with their falter and surge past the Bruins the last couple weeks and we let it slip away. Picked a real sh**ty time of the year to play our worst hockey.

Nothing you can do with those close tips, still been a decent period.

Ben Smith noted face-off magician has been special.

You've been watching what I'm watching.

Somebody quote me Gardiner's advanced stats.  He looks as bad as he did 2 years ago.

His mistakes are glaring in that he's a primary carrier and therefore exposed to more touches. The sens do a pretty good job shutting down NZ carries in general (they can't stop Nylander though).

Advanced stat wise (5v5 adj), 4 players had a good first: Carrick, Matthews, Kadri, Nylander. The next two are on the bad side of the ledger: Gardiner, Rielly. The rest of the team was, for all intents and purposes, practically passing the puck to the sens.

I wonder if the Leafs will adjust to start taking more point shots as teams have started sagging really deep on them.

Maybe Carrick should be getting a bigger chunk of Gardiner's TOI.

I'd like to see that, but this is just a small sample and likely a result of usage.

It's 3 on 5 in the attacking zone below the dots all night.
Point shot through traffic for the goal :)
