Sharks @ Leafs - Dec. 11th, 7:00pm - TSN4

I just heard on the radio that Nylander on the "third" line is a big deal. Calling it a demotion and sending a message. I think that's a bad take. The "third" line is currently our scoring line and will likely continue to yield results, swapping McMann for Nylander. Sometimes I wonder how some of these sports analysts come up with this crap?

Berube saying in the media that Nylander needs to "Work your way through it ... I would say he's got to get involved more, engaged more in the game & work his way through it" is the real message. Nylander has been in float mode for a little while now. Whether shifting him "down" a line has any impact remains to be determined.

Odds are those lines don't last long tonight, unless maybe the Leafs get a big lead early.

Honestly sometimes I feel like Nylander may be just sticking it to Berube. Berube is always calling Nylander out yet you've got domi over there who does fuck all, is a dumpster fire defensively, and gets rewarded with first line time and not a word spoken about him.

I'd be annoyed to if I was Nylander, because at the end of the day Nylander will still be here when Berube is eventually fired.

Before the McMann suspension, I was thinking he should have switched Tavares and Matthews, and called it a day. Don't care which line you want to call line #1. It may have helped jump start both Matthews and Nylander.

I would call it balanced lines; that's what I believe this DNA thing is all about. I agree that you need more than 2 lines to be competitive.

I think the Leafs can, and should, try to build a line around Roy and Nylander. Maybe try Cowan on the left side.

McMann - Tavares - Robertson should flashes earlier this season, see if that is sustainable. If Cowan doesn't work with Roy and Nylander find someone who does.

That’s a lot of former Leafs and a first time hometown rookie to boot, so we are going to be in for it tonight.

Fortunately, the Leafs have been playing lately like they do when Matthews is out injured (tight team defense), except Matthews is clicking now with the lighter defensive workload.

So Benoit gets his stuck stuck in the guys skate and gets 2 mins for tripping and Roy gets taken down and no call almost costing them a goal. Always said go back to one official it was better back then.

I'm no fan of Domi but for all his faults he will always give an effort. 88 goes when he feels like it. Domi also sat a game before being put on the 1st line and so far he's produced. He also makes 8M less the Willy so the standard is higher with him. This is nothing new. He'll snap out of it and go on a tear and then he'll go in la la land again.
