Game Notes
SJ
-Alexandar Georgiev (10-19-1, 3.65 GAA, .877 Sv%) will likely start for the Sharks
-San Jose finished 32nd overall last season and they're currently on pace to finish dead last yet again
-Maybe the lone bright spot for the Sharks this season has been the play of 2024 1st overall draft pick Macklin Celebrini. Not only has he impressed on the score sheet (44 points in 49 games, highest point per game rate among rookies this season) but also with his fantastic two-way game and compete level. Celebrini did suffer an injury in San Jose's last game but has not been ruled out of playing Monday yet
TOR
-Anthony Stolarz (13-5-2, 2.21 GAA, .927 Sv%) will start for the Leafs
-Nothing has been confirmed but there's an expectation that Calle Jarnkrok could be making his season debut in this game. Where he would fit in the line-up right away is obviously unknown right now

This is the classic trap game. Leafs on a 5 game winning streak, coming home after a great road trip, I sense everything pointing to a Sharks win

Also, second half of a back-to-back and end of 3 in 4. Leafs have also played some sloppy hockey since the break. Sharks are really really bad, though, so, who knows? This one could go any number of ways.

The Leafs own Prime games though. If Amazon took over full broadcasting rights we'd win the Cup every year.

3rd game in 4 nights. Second half of a back to back with travel. San Jose played on Saturday and is rested. This is the last stretch of two 3 games in 4 nights since the 4 Nations break so this is 6 games in 10 days. They are also playing on Amazon Prime.

So with that they should probably win......

BUT they are playing San Jose who are last in the NHL. San Jose is 6-19-7 on the road while Toronto is 20-11-0 at home. Timothy Liljegren is a former Maple Leaf.

So with that they will probably lose........

For Toronto's sake I was hoping Celebrini would be out, but I'm personally excited to see him play. Didn't pay a ton of attention to the draft last year and just kinda assumed he was a somewhat standard non-super elite 1st overall pick. But everything I've read and seen about him this season shows he's kind of a stud.

Probably a little too early to call him an Olympian next year but good chance that'll be the last best-on-best tournament he misses for Canada. Massive bonus in that he's a lefty shot.
