Same here. 30 fight win streak up against one of the guys who has beaten Cruz (at 145). I'm also interested in seeing how Hector Lombard makes the transition to the UFC. He looked dominant at 185 in Bellator.

Henderson is hurt. UFC 151 is cancelled.

Jones vs. Machida 2 is added to Toronto at UFC 152

Interesting that Chael Sonnen was willing to take this fight on 8 days notice but Jones turned it down.

I really can't blame Jones for this as much as many in the media and Dana have. How many other main events have been cancelled this year but the show still went on. Having a PPV relying on one fight is Dana's issue, not Jones. Maybe time to stop the over saturation that has made me less interested in the UFC. Do they really need UFC on Fuel, FX, Fox, the TUF and their PPVs? Little much if you ask me. I would eliminate one to bring back more card depth.

Totally agree that not having a suitable co-main was the UFC's problem. Fighters have taken fights before on 48-72 hours notice, so I still have to give Jones a slice of the blame here as well. Fans in Calgary have to wonder why this wasn't done about a month sooner. That card looked good at the start but went downhill.

Yeah, I agree with you guys, the blame for cancelling the event should be with the UFC for sure, they should have had a stronger card.

I do think Jones should have fought Sonnen though, refusing to fight the guy seemed a little strange. He was preparing for a wrestler all camp, Henderson probably has more power, it seems like he made a business decision, which rightly or wrongly rubs some fans the wrong way.

On the subject of fighters dropping out of events etc and cards changing so much, I have noticed that since the UFC implemented a rather comprehensive insurance and medical plan for it's fighters, there have been many more pullouts.

Under this new scheme, if a fighter is medically ruled unfit to fight, they still get paid their basic fight salary, it means fewer and fewer guys are willing to just 'suck it up' and fight, which can be looked at in two ways, one we get to see guys fighting who are healthy and should create better matchups and two there is then always going to be the added disruption to fight cards.

WOO 1000th post.  :D

If a fighter is ruled medically unfit to fight does that not mean that he is unfit to fight?...and if said fighter wanted to suck it up or not is irrelevant. The insurance wouldn't allow it because the doctors found him unfit.

Not a big UFC guy so maybe I'm reading it all wrong.

Superfight between GSP and Silva at a catchweight of 180 lbs. looks like it is going to happen.

I just don't like GSP's chances in this at all, but I would love to be wrong.

If he tries to stand with Anderson he will get lit up, he might be the most dominant wrestler Silva has faced though and Sonnen showed that if you put Silva on his back, you can do work.

George won't be able to lay and pray as Anderson has solid Jiu Jitsu off his back and if you just try to hold him down he will catch you, but if George can rough him up, that's how he wins the fight.

GSP is a better wrestler than Sonnen but I think Sonnen is stronger and yet what did Chael really do to Anderson - all that pounding and he could not finish him. GSP is fantastic at his game, but he has no finishing power. If GSP wins it would be a decision after having a solid shoot and ground game.

UFC 153 in Rio just took a major hit. Featherweight champion Jose Aldo and Rampage Jackson have both pulled out of the card. Aldo was scheduled to defend against Frankie Edgar in the main event while Rampage was scheduled in the co-main event.

It has been a while since I have been this excited for a UFC card. I am really looking forward to GSP on Saturday night.

The card I am still looking forward to the most has Cain going against Dos Santos again on Dec 30th.

Good fights!

I haven't commented much on the UFC of late as the last few cards have had so many injury issues that the end product didn't have much interest. This card though is one that I'm seriously considering buying. People write Condit off but he was champ in the WEC at 170 and beat Nick Diaz to earn this fight. His last 3 fights were Diaz, Stun Gun Kim, and Dan Hardy. There's also a potential #1 contender fight at 170 and several quality Canadian fighters. On paper, this card has the potential to deliver.

Speaking of injury issues, Shane Carwin is out of the TUF coach's fight against Big Country Nelson. Matt Mitrione has stepped in to face Nelson.

Condit is by far the best opponent that GSP has faced. I give him the edge in striking and also in terms of heart - this guy wants it bad. He talks about having worked 15 years for this moment and going into GSP's backyard and taking this from him. I think Condit is a very tough guy and very hard to finish.... and we know GSP does not finish guys very often. The longer the fight goes on the longer Condit has a punchers chance of landing a knockout hit.

Yet every time I have ever thought this way GSP utterly dominates the opponent. I am not sure what will happen, but I do know that it has been a while since I have been this excited for a match.

Joe Lauzon deserves so much credit, to come forward the way he did in he face of such adversity, it was inspiring.

I was expecting Lauzon-Miller to get stopped during the 2nd round. Lot of heart by Lauzon to keep going. It was the clear Fight of the Night. As for Cain, he showed what the 1st fight would have been if he didn't have a bad knee going into it. He was able to get the fight to the ground, but also traded some shots with JDS. I suspect in 12-18 months from now, we're going to see chapter 3 in this. Next up for Cain will be Overeem if he wins his next fight and passes his drug test (not a given considering he's currently on a drug suspension).
