The Official Complaint Thread!

I recently flew to BC on Air Canada. When boarding the aircraft in Toronto, I presented my valid Ontario Drivers Licence as identification. The gate attendant would not accept it, insisting that it was their policy that I needed a passport. I knew this was wrong but I didn't want to argue too much. Luckily I brought it with me, otherwise it would have been quite the scene.

I intend to write a letter to the president of Air Canada asking him to explain why they apparently have a policy that is a direct violation of my charter right to free travel within my own country. I also intend to forward said letter to my MP.

You might want to ask why they violated their own policy as well. From AC's website.

Flights within Canada
At the boarding gate, a passenger must present:

Two (2) pieces of government issued non-photo identification with matching names as long as at least one piece also includes the date of birth and gender; or
One (1) piece of government issued identification with photo showing the name, date of birth and gender.

He/She screwed up... You should have politely asked to see a supervisor.

Yeah. Since I had my passport I just gave it to him to avoid further hassle. My fianc? was getting antsy ;)

Thanks seahawk. I'll be sure to include that in the letter :)

I've been with the company 16 years now. I'm not sure the letter will do you much good but if the letter makes you feel better, then by all means... If you decide to proceed, and anything comes out of it, please let me know... Just want to feed my own curiosity.

For sure! I'm not expecting anything to come out of it. Sometimes you just feel the need to say things you think should be said.

@TML fan, NP on that info. I'm flying to Chicago in August (1st vacation in 4 years) on AC and seeing your comments made me want to look up that info so I don't have a similar issue.

Was driving with some light traffic when the cops pulled us all over.  I've seen speeding tickets for a lone guy, but never an entire pack of vehicles like that.  Cop was nice enough to state I was doing 21 kms/hr too fast, not 20.  (Do police give speeding tickets anywhere the speed limit doesn't drop down unexpectedly?) We just bought a new vehicle and my wife took the insurance papers out to do paperwork...and put them back in her purse.  She bought a sticker, didn't get put on... birthday has passed.  I've never seen the police nail someone for everything and anything they could that wasn't being a jerk.  So now, as a responsible member of society, I have to hate all cops.  Better teach my kids this lesson as well.  I chalked up most people's hatred to getting what they deserved for mouthing off, etc.  Boy was I wrong.  Overpaid bullies that have way less honor then the criminals I've known.  Off to play some Postal II.  Bringing in a jerry can of gas to the police station.

moon111, sorry that you got caught.  My advice, fight them.  The sticker one will most likely be thrown out once you show that you purchased the sticker and you can get the other ones lowered for sure.  I went through a few years where I had several speeding tickets and I was pissed at the police as well but hey, it was my own fault.  I slowed down and "knock on wood", I haven't had any in over 6 years.

Special edition/deluxe CDs really bug me. Why can't everyone get the same version? Did Zeppelin put out Zeppelin II with extra tracks in different regions? No we all got the same version, so why does every group nowadays put out one cd that has 10 tracks, then a "deluxe" with 14 tracks, "special edition" with yet another track. Screw you.

My complaint. People always complaining about the police.
I got into an arguement at work because a coworker got yelled at (cop let him off w.o a ticket) while he ran into a gas station. Neglect the fact he parked in 3 spots (1 of them handicap), but it's the officers fault for being aggressive.

It's the cops fault people get pulled over for speeding. It's the traffic cops fault someone gets penalized for parking improperly.

THis B.S. " I hate cops" mentality is a joke. We want them to protect us, but when they're protecting others FROM us there is a problem.

I'm not saying all cops are perfect or nice people, or even always correct. In fact, I think sometimes leniancy would do them better than ticketing (in Moon111's case for example) but at the same time, they didn't make anyone break the law.

People need to start taking responsibility for themselves and their actions.

Imagine being a cop.  Every person you're talking to is likely lying to you to some extent (I only had 1 beer, or I just took off my seatbelt for a minute, or I had no idea I was speeding, etc).

I'd hate being a cop.  My hat goes off to all cops out there.  Yeah, there's the odd bad apple, but most I've got to know are solid people who care about what they're doing...

Great posts.  I will make sure my hubby knows this!

When a sender of an email requests acknowledgement of receipt, I find it rather pushy. I normally don't send one back.... even in business. They'll get my reply when I'm good and ready.

I'm with you on that Sarge.

If it's really important that I know when the receiver gets the email, I'll simply request it.

So I got hired to my first job today, problem is it is door to door sales based on commission. I get $100 per sale but still I am nervous as fuck and not sure if I am cut out for it. Any advice?
