The Official Gaming Thread

I didn't know we had an official gaming thread :)

I'd like to announce my Let's Play series on YouTube
My channel is IntoTheGame but we are new so its easier to search for MetalRaven705.
We have 11 videos up so far having just started at the end of April.  We release Mon, Wed and Fri. Episodes are approx 13-16 mins.
NOT SAFE FOR KIDS!!! We cuss and are generally inappropriate. (Thinking strongly of releasing a PG Jr version)

I would highly recommend that. As a father of a five year old boy, I know how much kids love watching these videos. If you watch your swear words, you'll get tonnes of views by kids (for appropriate games of course.)

Yeah I have a 5 year old too and its not fun that he can't even watch these, I want to do PVZ as well at some point which will require censorship and id rather not attach it to the "adult" channel. Problem is getting my players on board heh

Remastered versions of the Uncharted Trilogy have finally been announced. October 9th. I never played them, but The Last of Us is probably my all-time favourite video game so I'm pretty excited to give them a go. Those, Battlefront, and Fallout 4 (probably) are all coming out in the span of a couple of months.

Fallout 4 is confirmed at this point.  Their website went live briefly by accident.

Uncharted isn't as good as Last of Us as individual games but are otherwise quite good.  Definitely worth playing.

I'm thoroughly enjoying the Witcher right now.

Yeah it was officially announced yesterday, trailer and all. There just wasn't a release date but I'm assuming it'll be October-December.

Never played the other ones, but I've seen people compare it's scope to DA:I which I loved. Might have to check that one out. I've had Shadow of Mordor sitting on my desk for months now too though, and Arkham Knight will soon be taking up my time.

I kind of view The Witcher as somewhere in between Skyrim and DA:I.  CD Projekt Red also deserves a lot of praise for being a gamer friendly company.  They are releasing their DLC free and have done a number of other good things.  It's just good gamer practice to support them.

Agreed on the time crunch of good games to play.  I liked Shadow of Mordor but the story is pretty bare bones and conflicts a lot of Tolkien based history if you get stuck on that.  It plays very similar to the Arkham series and the nemesis system is pretty fun to mess around with.

Any thoughts on whether The Witcher is accessible if you haven't played the first two? I played about fifteen minutes of the second one so I think I know the basic premise but other than the plot/world details are lost on me.

If you are really big on background story immersion it probably won't be as enjoyable but it is easily playable without any knowledge of the previous two games.  Some side quests and dialogue are lacking without context but the story is straightforward enough that it doesn't need you to know every last detail.

The Uncharted trilogy is definitely in my top five.

It has the same vibe to me as the good Indiana Jones movies, lots of fun and touching at all the right moments.

Amazon.ca has a 30% off deal when you pre-order 3 or more games. I currently have 9 games in my shopping cart  :-\

It's at times like this that I can comfortably use my role as an educator to explain that video games have been shown to decrease the rates of Dementia by up to 50%...well really it has more to do with staying active with new learning and new technologies but I think I can safely say that it is a vital activity for your overall wellbeing.

Awesome. Everyone keep this in mind when you don't hear from me from September-January.

Listen, I have a bit of a family history of senile dementia, so you'd be doing me a big favour if you could prescribe me The Witcher 3.  Anybody know if Best Buy accepts Manulife?
