Yet another player collapses...and dies.  Livorno's PierMario Morisini, suffered cardiac arrest, not once, but three times in succession, as he tried to get up but collapsed again, the third time proved fatal.  Ambulance personnel desperately tried to revive him on the pitch, but, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Terrible news for fans and players alike.  Morisini, 25 years of age, was playing in a Serie B league game.

Bayern won 2-1, that away goal might come back to haunt them - very impressive performance non the less beating Madrid is no easy task. I suspect Barca is going to have their way with Chelsea today @ Stamford Bridge but I'm open to another stunner.

This means Real Madrd is done.  They would have to beat Bayern 2-0 or 3-1 to guarantee themselves a spot in the finals.  It's possible, since the next game will be played at Bernabeu in Madrid.

Bar?a had better beat Chelsea.  I have my Pro-Line on the line here.

I still have visions of an all-Spanish final with R. Madrid vs Bar?a.  :)

Yesterday's game was in Germany - all Madrid needs to do is win 1-0 at Bernabeu!

Yeah they dominated. Not sure if you play soccer vids but it was a FIFA 12 kind of game....still a big mountain between them and the finals but full credit for an ugly win

Those stats are ridiculous, but, my goodness... nothing's ever fair in sports!

Toronto FC lost another one 3-2 and the coach and players are turning on each other.  Is the club destined to suck every single year of their existence?

Since expansion in 2007 they are 40-73-47 with a -82 goal differential.  Pretty sad.  The infighting after the game today was something else.  Winter is blaming it on the midfield and players entirely because his garbage system clearly isn't the problem.

From: http://www.sportsnet.ca/soccer/2012/04/21/toronto_fc_lose_sixth_straight/

This is beyond ridiculous.

Toronto FC has lost its first six games of the MLS season, its latest setback coming in a 3-2 defeat at the hands of the Chicago Fire Saturday afternoon before 19,255 spectators at BMO Field.

Not even the return of captain Torsten Frings (sidelined with a hamstring injury since the season opener) could save the day, as the Reds are now one loss away from tying the league mark for the worst start to a season. The Kansas City Wizards began the 1999 campaign 0-7.

Last-place Toronto is the only side in the 19-team league without a point..continue to leak goals at the back, having conceded 13 times in MLS play.

the man who was supposed to give this embattled club a lift was far from his best on Saturday. A midfielder by trade, Frings looked tentative in the middle of a three-man defence, perhaps the result of being played out of position.

Questions also have to be asked of Winter and why he thought a side with such well-documented defensive shortcomings could get away with employing a three-man back line against one of the fastest teams in MLS?

It was more of an issue of a lack of defensive organization and individual errors. Toronto lacks skilled players in defence, and fact underlined by Frings? deployment as a central defender.

The other problem was how easily the team was over-run in midfield..?We have to learn how to defend, to defend set pieces and transition when we lose the ball in midfield. If we don?t put pressure on them in midfield, it?s easy for them to pass the final ball,? Kocic warned.

?It?s our fault to give up three goals, especially the one off a set piece right after we scored. That?s on the players. We have to be more accountable of (who we mark). These mistakes are killing us,? Johnson said.

It was announced today that TFC is going to face Liverpool in a friendly in July. The game will be played at the dome on grass.

10 man Chelsea score 2 away to take down Barca - what a game

I can't imagine Bar?a's out!  Saw the highlights of this game and was surprised that Barcelona's near misses weren't goals instead.  Chelsea played well enough to earn the win.  They had a slight edge somehow over Bar?a.

Both CL semi's were classics - Bayern v Chelsea...who would have called it. They need to do something about the cumulative yellow cards - both Chelsea and Bayern lost some important players

If not for bumbling Ronaldo to have miscued on his penalty kicks, R?al would have had a chance in the shootouts.

Oh well, it's going to be too close to call a winner in these finals.  Both Chelsea and Bayern are tops right now.  Maybe some luck for either will be needed, who knows.
