No but that married guy may not be able to yank his kids out of school and move them to a new city for weeks or months. He may wind up seeing very little of his wife and kids for weeks or months - until school ends, etc.
Saw an interview with a past LA King yesterday. He said when they traded Craig Conroy, who was the most popular guy on the club, it significantly upset the team - they weren't the same.
The Lindros trade circus in 2001 nearly took a decent Leafs team out of qualifying for the playoffs.
We hear about team bonding during preseason. Either there's something to that or there isn't. I don't think one can have it both ways.
I think there's a reason why so many players try to haggle for a no trade/no movement/limited trade clause.
If it isn't a big deal to all players, why do some of these tough guys cry when they've been traded or hide from the media for days?
With over 50 trades between January and the deadline the previous three seasons and roughly 700 players in the league, roughly 10% of the league is on the move each season near the deadline. What would your work environment be like to work in if you and all those you worked with knew that 10% of the work force you were supposed to "bond with" would be instantly relocated to a city usually not of their own choice every year?
Some nomads wouldn't have a big problem with that life. Other individuals, no matter how much they're paid, would.
