While i disagree with the majority of doomsayers, i will appreciate my involvement, however small, in the creation of this thread.
Chicken Little was supposed to be fun.
I have a lot of serious questions about Nonis' ability to take a club forward, but he has not, as yet, put a foot wrong. I would laud the Gleason and Holland deals as something of two miniature Roman triumphs, even if they worked out fairly well for everyone involved.
I appreciate that Burke appears to have instilled a culture of retaining talented youth, going the extra mile to acquire it whenever possible. I am especially grateful that the management change did not seem to change the course of the club, but i'm starting to think that was Nonis' job all along, once Burke got the sack.
Above all else, i am grateful to support a club that has the history the Leafs do, the undeniable position at the center of the hockey universe. I cannot imagine, what it must be like to grow up with a Phoenix Coyotes shirt on my wall, or to grow up hearing my father explain that the history of your hockey club depends entirely on Canadian ex-pats being shipped to Carolina for IT work.
I'm proud to live at the center of the universe, even more proud that this team appears to be on the right track.
