Tyler Seguin traded to Dallas

Eh, I'm thinking less "armed guard barring the door" and more like some intern in Boston's office keeping an eye on him.

It was just reported on TSN 1050 that during this year's playoffs, Boston had to hire a guard to make sure Tyler Seguin didn't go out at night.

FWIW.

I find that hard to believe. That's just ridiculous. If it's true though, the kid has issues.

If it's true, he's an alcoholic.

He also only recently reached the age of majority in a country where that age is 21, spending the last few years underage. He also makes millions of dollars. So he's immature at his age, not a reason I'd give up on him already. He's gonna be real good for a long time.

I really hated Seguin mostly out of jealousy because of the whole Boston/Kessel saga. But now that he plays for the Stars, I can see myself being a fan. So what if he is edgy off the ice, the guy has superstar written all over him.

It's funny, I'm kind of the same way. Although I also kinda want to see him flourish just to make Boston look bad for trading him. Eriksson is a heck of a player though.

I was in Dallas a couple of years ago. Dallas proper is an absolute ghost town after business hours. If the rumours are true and he resides down town (I'm not sure how many people actually do) Dallas could be a great spot for him. That said, one doesn't need to travel too far outside of Dallas proper to find a good time either.  :-\

Where there's smoke, there's fire.  He sounds like a punk.  I would have traded him too.  I'm tired of teams basically being enablers to these "superstar" punks just because they have "skills".  Skills aren't everything.  There's also maturity and hard work which should be respected far more and I for one am glad Boston has the stones to do the right thing.  There's a reason that team is a winner.  And that reason is not being a bitch to spoiled hockey players.

What?  You sound like a 70 year old.  He sounds like he's a multi-millionaire 21 year old to me.  What is being a punk about it?  And why is superstar and "skills" put in quotations?

I'm pretty sure he works hard or else he wouldn't be at this level.

I knew someone who was under so much pressure by his parents.  Couldn't go to the movies because he had to jog, push-ups, sit-ups, etc.  Never was able to be a full kid.  When hockey finally took him away, the successful path he was on came crashing down because of his new found freedom.

Let me tell you, not every 21 year old drinks and parties.  I didn't and I had plenty of fun in my youth.  Not even 21 year old millionaires is an alcoholic and sex addict.

Stop projecting your low standards and uncouth ways as a norm.  It's not a norm...may have been made popular, even acceptable, by modern media and shows like Jersey Shore, but not all young people are punks.  There are good young people who are concerned about being good members of their community and starting families, not drinking, doing drugs and having sex.

I'm serious, I am tired of punks hijacking the image of "young people"or "youth" in general.  We may be quiet and even unremarkable to the undiscerning eye, but we're no less normal NOT partying and not being punks.

Let's just stop for a second and acknowledge that just because a 21 year old multi-millionaire likes to party, it a) doesn't necessarily make him an alcoholic (in fact, odds are if he was an alcoholic, he wouldn't try sneaking out, he'd just get crunked in his room) and b) isn't all that uncommon.

Take a step back and appreciate that you know nothing of this guy, other than what you've seen in his on-ice game and a little bit of gossip from twitter-land.

Remember when Patrick Kane was a 21 year old punk?

I think his two rings and one Conn Smythe have eased those concerns.

Tyler Seguin is gay. Is there going to be backlash that Boston traded away a gay athlete?

Not sure if that's in jest but the article didn't show it one way or another.

I think it's almost certain that Patrick Burke is 100% correct with his observation:  "It's obviously his moron "friends" grabbing his phone and projecting their stupidity all over his public reputation."
