Wild @ Leafs - Nov. 8th, 7:30pm - SN, TSN 1050

The tactic of giving the puck away and turning it over in dangerous locations probably isn't going to pay off in the long run

The guy jumps out of the way of the hit and into Borgman's leg and somehow that's a penalty on Borgman?

He had his leg out as part of his awkward stance there. That gets called almost all the time. If he's standing up straight, that's probably no penalty.

You know things are bad when even Greg Millen is calling out the forwards for flying the zone. If he notices something like that, it's basically an epidemic.

When even Greg Millen can finally spot the Leafs flying the zone/being too high in the d-zone defensively it shows how bad the issue really is. Busta and I have been saying as much for a few weeks and a few others too.

They really need to address this because it's a terrible habit and will cost them even more as the year goes on and all the games get played tighter.

In fairness to the Herminator, that was a great setup by Hyman on the Marleau goal 2-1.

Zach Attack! Was it really that cool? Any gifs?

He laid it out there like a big old tuna on a serving platter and Marleau ate it ALL up.

I feel like he was fine as he comes in for the hit, his leg is out during/post hit because the Minny player dived into it as he jumped out of the way and that causes Borgman's leg and skate to turn.

To me, it looked like his leg was out a little the whole way, and then ended up further as the hit developed/devolved.

This game is not going well.  Playing with fire here.  Without Andersen tonight it's a lopsided score.

This is a pretty horrible game. The Wild play pretty ugly hockey and the Leafs are doing a lot of standing around or look like they're skating through porridge at times. And then those giveaways/zone flying issues are making it look even worse. If it wasn't for Andersen this would be very ugly.

Looking at the replay I can see what you're saying, but it looks to me he's leaning on that leg to change position as he see's the Minny player begin to lean on his edges to change direction.

Yes, only 12 SOG so far.  Weak.

Yeah. Obviously, the intention to stick his leg out to trip the Wild player wasn't there, but, his leg was, unfortunately, and penalties get called in that situation on a regular basis.

It was  bit like in soccer where the attacking player kind of leaves his foot in to make contact and get brought down for a penalty. It is a penalty but it's either clever and professional or annoying and deceitful depending if it's in your team's favour or not
