Winter Classic - Flyers/Rangers

Did anyone watch the Winter Classic alumni game today?  The quality of hockey was much better than expected.  It was great to see the 70's Flyers & Rangers on the ice, plus guys like Howe, Poulin, Propp, Tocchet, Lindros, LeClair, Messier, Gartner, Graves, Leetch, etc.  The goalies made some great saves, & the game was very competitive in the 3rd period.  Alot of stars on the ice at the same time.  The players seemed to really enjoy it.  As well, the ice was in good shape, probably the best ice I've seen in WC history.

I'm looking forward to the main event on Monday, I'll be there with my son.

Don't think the Alumni game was televised here, but that is an impressive collection of talent to assemble. As for the ice, it can only get better each year as the crew gets more experience working with the ice plant (it is a 'permanent' system that moves between games) in an outdoor setting.

I am also looking forward to the game tomorrow. It's becoming a bit of a tradition for me.

This game needs to return to Canada for me to care about it and until it does these games are just gimmicks. Boo!!

It was nice to see Eric Lindros don a uniform again.  And also for the rest of the retirees.

My favourite part of these Winter Classics?  The singing of "O Canada!", something we'll be seeing again on January 2nd!

That thing that happens at every Leafs game is your favourite part of the Winter Classic?

It's not often that our national anthem is sung before a national U.S. television audience, in an event such as the Winter Classic.  Yes, I know Leafs/other NHL teams/games, but we're talking about an event here.

New start time 3pm est.

Looks like Bobs in net for Flyers.

Might see Staal cleared to play for the Rangers.

Alot of controversy surrounding the fact that Bob is getting the start over Bryz.  Some reports state that Bryz isn't handling it well.  Good for Bob, Bryz sucks this season.  Good for Lavy for rewarding play on the ice, rather than worrying about the size of the contract.  We'll see what type of person Bryz is going forward, based on how he responds to not playing in this showcase event.

Yup. I'm guessing the NHL figured they wouldn't get much of a tv audience today.
The NFL claimed New Years Day this time around.  Today feels more like New Years Day with the Rose Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Winter Classic, etc.  It's hard to compete with the NFL for TV audience.

Orange I believe you will see exactly why the Coyotes players were not upset at Bryz's departure.  He is exactly the player and person I thought he was.

I had wondering while watching 24/7 how Flyers fans would react to Bryz's performance?  It's OK to crack jokes when things are going well but I doubt many enjoy Bryz's humour when he demanded to be one of the highest paid players yet plays no better than most back-ups.

If by "here" you mean Canada it was on CBC. I found it by accident as I rarely turn on CBC for anything other than hockey games. They had the NHL Network announcers with PJ Stock and another CBC woman doing some intermission blabs.
