Winter Classic - Flyers/Rangers

Are the refs under instruction to get this game to OT?

I just thought they were terrible, not terrible to any team in particular. If they don't blow the whistle early on that scramble a little while ago the Flyers would have almost certainly tied it.

Yeah - the refs spent the last minute and a half trying to make it up to the Flyers. Those calls stunk <dive/ps>

More importantly  - how do you guys feel about the NHL's decision to go ahead and play the game today despite the news that Pascal Dupuis was waived? Heartless? What he would have wanted? Someone had to make a really tough call there!

Probably feel better than the person who screwed up the sarcastic comment.

Pascal Dupuis was waived? Are the Penguins aware of this?

I have a term for that, it's called "Errortainment", calls made not because they are correct, but calls made according to what will lend itself to a more exciting game.

Good on Torts.  Won the game and ripped the calls by the refs in the post game.  Probably will get fined.

Pretty much - thanks for stopping.

Next Winter Classic 2013:  Toronto Maple Leafs/Detroit Red Wings
somewhere in a Detroit stadium, either Comerica Park or U of Michigan.

It's a possibility at this stage.  Hope it happens.

Think I'd rather see this played at the Copa over the Big House. Can't see them filling over 70k seats in Ann Arbour, even with the Leafs, and it would look kinda empty on TV otherwise.

If Buffalo and Pittsburgh can fill a 70,000 seat stadium, I have no doubt the Leafs/Red Wings could do so, even if it was held in Moosonee, ON.

I think it could fill a stadium twice the size of the Big House.

Geez do we really want that many people seeing how bad our PK really is?

...and Wilson on the Jumbotron mouthing "LET'S GO!"

just looked it up...college hockey drew 104000 in attendance at the big house

I think the leafs and wings could do it.
