World Championships

I know dumping on Phanuef is cool and everything but the decision to hand him the 'A' is suspicious at best.

I'm not the world's biggest Phaneuf fan but describing it as suspicious implies that someone gave it about 1000x times more thought than they probably actually did.

That sounds even more suspicious!

If only there were someway to tie this into the Pro-Western Canada bias I believe permeates Hockey Canada to it's very core...wait a second:

Getzlaf - Regina
Phaneuf - Edmonton
Sharp - Winnipeg

I did it!

Canada wins 3-2 over Slovakia.  Goals from Benn, Eberle, and Ladd.  Cam Ward with the win in the net.  Well done!

Saturday, Canada plays USA.  GO CANADA GO!!

It's a complete fiasco attendance wise so far, but they've got themselves to blame for the ticket prices. People in Sweden have whined about this for several months, and yet the morons thought that people would change their minds, but they didn't. I mean tickets that I used to pay like 150-200 sek for (Swedish Elite League) costs like 1495 sek in this tournament. 1495 sek is about 220 US dollars. Seeing Sweden-France in soccer in the european championships costs about 300 sek. Seeing Lady Gaga in the same arena will cost 350 sek.

1495 sek for Sweden-Norway with decent seats, lol.

That's insane. I noticed a lot of empty seats in the highlights I was watching from yesterday's games. That definitely explains it.

12pm EST puck drop today - Canada vs. USA

I see Grabovski is playing for Belarus.
Joey Crabb is playing for USA and Kulemin is playing for Russia. Other than Schenn and Phaneuf are there any other Leafs in the tournament?

I believe so. Scott Gordon is USA's head head, and Cronin is an assistant there. Holzer, Mueller, and Gardiner may have played for their countries if they weren't involved in the AHL playoffs.

Disappointing finish for Canada. You could see that CAN has the better, more talented group, but the USA worked harder and found chemistry where the Canadians struggled to do so. Hopefully they can find their legs and gain the Chemistry needed as the tournament moves along.

Nik Kulemin scored a goal in Russia?s 4-2 win over Norway. He has 2 points in 2 games so far, hopefully the tourney helps him to rediscover the scoring touch.

Kule goal at around 1:05. From the recap looks like he drew a penalty and also partially screened the goalie on Datsyuk's goal.

I'm a big Kule fan so probably biased, but I really do believe that he will bounce back to 20g-50p production levels next season to go along with his ever strong two-way play.

And yes, a good showing at the world championships will be a huge boost to his confidence.

Excusez-moi, mais...

Canada defeats France 7-2.  Tr?s, tr?s bon!
