The Stanley Cup arrived a few hours later than expected in a small southwestern Ontario community Sunday.

Thousands of people braved the heat in downtown Dunnville to celebrate recent champion Nathan Horton's win and the cup's arrival with a parade.

But Horton told the crowd at around 1:00 p.m. the cup would be arriving late.

Many of the people who had gathered for the event had already left by the time it arrived closer to 2:30 p.m.

The cup was late because it was left behind in Boston.

"I was a little disappointed about not seeing the cup because that was the main reason why I wanted to go, because I haven't seen it yet," said Caledonia resident Amber Eyre, who drove down to see the cup but left at around 1:30 p.m before it arrived.

She's also a fan of the Vancouver Canucks, the team Horton's Bruins beat in the finals. The loss gave her added incentive to go today's event.

"Being so close to almost getting the cup and then not -- I just wanted to see it."

I think the best part is the Canucks fan being so close to seeing the cup, then not seeing it, just like chomper and the Sedin sisters.

It?s always fun in Philadelphia. After the Flyers? busy summer of spending and trading, they?ve got a new obstacle in their way to winning the Stanley Cup for the offseason. Tim Panaccio of CSN Philly reports that the Flyers will have $1.4 million in salary bonus overages counted against the cap this season. The bonuses were earned by players last season and will have to be counted against the cap this year. The Flyers owe up to former players Sean O?Donnell as well as to James van Riemsdyk, Andreas Nodl, and Sergei Bobrovsky for those bonuses.

Things getting tighter and tighter in Philly.

Also, according to capgeek, the Rags were ~$527K over. They've got a few teams listed as TBA, but, so far, no one else more than 15K in carry over penalties.

Capgeek still has them under the cap with everyone signed and the overage accounted for.

Yeah, but the less than $200K in cap space they've got available will make things very difficult if they end up with a couple short-term injuries. They could still be looking to move a contract.

Is Laperriere or anyone else a LTIR candidate?

Laperriere is, I believe. That frees up some space for them but also leaves them with a roster of 21 and maxed out in terms of contracts. I suspect they'll still make a move of some kind to create some flexibility and to be able to afford carry more than 1 spare guy on the roster and have some wiggle room.

Check out the photo of badass Kaberle with a bunch of bikers on the front page of NHL.com at this moment:  http://www.nhl.com/

(I can't figure out how to copy the Adobe Flash photo... :( )

mirtle James Mirtle Told Chris Campoli is an unrestricted free agent as he and the Blackhawks have parted ways. Details to come.

I didn't know where to put this,

I was listening to TSN online and saw the Carter/Wisniewski interview. He stated that his decision in going to the Jackets was easier once Carter was traded because he didn't want to go to a team and spend six years of his life losing every day.

I'm sorry, but wow.

They mutually agreed to part before his arbitration hearing:

Everything is getting labelled as temporary because our regular forum database got corrupted. This is temporary until we know if it can be recovered or not.

In RFA news, Tampa and Teddy Purcell came to a 2 year agreement mere minutes before Purcell's arbitration hearing.

i have read that Chris Campoli would like to be a Leaf. Does anyone have a link to the article where he said this to a reporter? or is it just an opinion?

I guess signing him for cheap would offer trade flexibility or defensive depth ( 19 minutes a night last year,  he can play ) but I have trouble seeing where he fits on the Leaf roster currently.

I haven't seen a direct quote either.
