2011 Toronto Raptors/NBA/Labour Negotiations Spectacular

Hot dog, that was a heck of a game.

Bargnani goes down with calf injury #2.    Casey has no concept of how to manage minutes.  But on the whole, less Bargnani = more losses = better for next year.

The most valuable NBA franchises according to Forbes...

The Raps are ranked 12th for anyone too lazy to read the article, which is pretty darn good considering their complete lack of any kind of playoff success.

Anyways...

Lamar Odom is going to the D-league

I've never seen an NBA "star" play in the D-League before.  Pretty crazy.

It's obviously a kick in the butt. Clearly the Mavs expected him to not entirely chuck it this year.

I don't know if you've heard but there are lots of rumblings right now that the Lakers front office right now is just an absolute mess. The meaningless Odom trade seems to be a highlight of that.

Buss Jr. seems like the meddling kind of idiot that has destroyed a really good thing.  My Dad made lots of money and I get to inherit it, therefore I know how to run a basketball team.

Here's the article I read on it if anyone's interested. It's pretty wild:

Laker's Mess in Front Office

Eep. The Heat's win streak comes to an end after a great fourth quarter comeback that fell just short.

Down by one, 4.5 seconds to go and the guy who takes the big shot for the Heat is....Udonis Haslem. Yikes.

Saturday's 102-96 Dallas Mavericks victory over the Utah Jazz, in Dallas, saw the return of the Mavs' Lamar Odom, who earlier had apologized to teammates for having taken a sudden leave of absence, after they had questioned his commitment to the team.

Everyone, on down to Dallas owners Mark Cuban, seemed to have reached an understanding of Odom's situation concerning circumstances in his personal life that led to his detraction and distraction due to the above situation.

Critics wonder if he is conditioned enough to withstand the rigours of the rest of the remaining games in the Mavs schedule, heading into the playoffs.  That's something that will be borne out eventually.

It's not too often that an injury hurts the entire league but anyone I know who's a fan of the game is pretty bummed out that Ricky Rubio blew out his ACL and is gone for the year and the Olympics.

Just dang. The Wolves were fun to watch.

Pacers get Barbosa for a 2nd round pick.

LOVE the move.  We needed a scorer off the bench.  This will probably allow us to start George Hill now, because we don't need him off the bench, so it will help both the first and second unit.

Great move.  Although we lack that real elite player I think the team has about as much depth as any team in basketball and still a ton of cap space and youth going forward.

The Anti-Maple Leafs :) ;)

Strange move for the Raps, if only because Barbosa was an expiring contract and they really didn't need to deal him at all. Also, Colangelo reportedly wanted to re-sign him, but I guess that didn't work out.

At any rate, this move has no real effect on the franchise other than the fact that they'll probably start losing more games. And yes, that is indeed possible.

Hence the genius of it. Obviously the Wizards/Bobcats are making Anthony Davis a bit of a pipe dream but if the Raps end up with Jared Sullinger or Harrison Barnes I'd be pretty happy.

Watching the Lakers-Mavericks last night I heard one of the strangest stats I've heard in a while.

Jason Kidd has made 69 field goals all season, 54 of which are 3 pointers.

He only has 15 two-point field goals all year.

I know he's in the twilight of his career but.... wow?
