2012 Toronto Blue Jays Thread

Griffin mentions it:

The announcement of Lind being outrighted to Triple-A Las Vegas is not any indication that the Jays have given up on the first baseman, but serves as confirmation that the next move, if and when they feel he has straightened out his power-alley swing, can be made by simply purchasing his contract again from Vegas.

They just need a spot on the 40-man roster.

Hopefully this is a sign that the Orioles are starting to fracture and will begin their much anticipated tumble to fifth place. Hopefully.

Boston is running through their full set of signs with no one on base and the Jays are still hitting home runs.

The man in white is good!

Jays lost 7-2 to the Red Sox last night.  Jays pitcher Henderson Alvarez with the loss, pitched 6 inningsr, allowing 4 earned runs.  Nearly suffered a shin bruise himself, similar to Morrow's, only this time there was no injury.

Yeah, looks like the on-again / off-again Jays are off-again. They are down 7-4 going to the bottom of the 9th this afternoon. A loss today drops them into last place in the east (albeit 3.5 games out before the later games).

As usual, the Jays aren't going to get anywhere if they can't beat the Red Sox, Yankees, Rangers and Rays of the league.  8-13 combined record against those 4 teams so far this season.

Brett Lawrie was the first "reporter" to break the Eaton Center shooting today on Twitter. :-o

Odd day at the park so far today. Jays have 5 runs on only 1 hit. In the second inning, they scored twice without even putting a ball in play.

Blue Jays draft Outfielder DJ Davis 17th overall:

Love the Stroman pick at 22. Saying he could be in the 'pen by September.

Interesting pick. Sounds like he doesn't have the greatest command of the strikezone, but, with a little polish, he has future closer/set up guy written all over him.

Fastest guy plus one of the best arms (though undersized) in the draft? Sounds good. - any warning bells for signing we're aware of?

Matt Smoral(6'8 LHP), Mitch Nay(HS 3B with power) and Tyler Gonzales(HS RHP, throws mid 90's) wraps up the night.

After last night's game, Rasmus's wOBA is up to .326 from .304, and his wRC+ up to 104 from 89.  Last 14 games .351 AVG, 1.105 OP.

(Stat explanations: http://www.fangraphs.com/library/index.php/offense/woba/ & http://www.fangraphs.com/library/index.php/offense/wrc/)

Hopefully keeps trending upwards as he's hit very well in his limited time in the 2 spot.
