2013 NHL Trade Deadline

GMillerTSN: Min/Buf trade: Sabres send Jason Pominville and a 4th in '14 to the Wild for Johan Larsson, Matt Hackett a 1st in '13 and a 2nd in '14.

Feels like an overpayment for Pominville to me.

I'm glad he's out of our division though. Pominville I believe has been a point-a-game player vs. the Leafs in his career.

A late one filtered through -- Martin Erat and Michael Latta to Washington for Filip Forsberg (was the 11th overall pick this past draft).

What in the worst is Washington thinking?!  Erat illicits that?!

Yeah, that's an odd one - unless Washington really sees something in Latta or saw something they really didn't like in Forsberg this season.

I like how nashville picked up filip forsberg.  Would have been nice if the leafs traded macarthur or someone for him.

I'm guessing if that offer was there for the Leafs, that deal would have been made.

I was also wondering about this very thing, otherwise, it's looks like a head-scratcher.

I'm kinda lost on this one as well. I guess we will find out somewhere down the road.

That seems like the highest price paid for anyone.

Even more remarkable to me considering what they gave up is that this happened to him in Oct 2005, four plus years AFTER he was drafted:
10/03/2005 Waived by the Buffalo Sabres for the purpose of assigning him to Rochester (AHL).

Any NHL team could have had him for nothing. And here we are seven and half years later seeing him fetch a boatload of assets at the deadline.

Sources say #Sabres will pick up 15% of Jason Pominville's contract: ~$200K in cap for remainder of this season, $795K in cap next season.

Sources say #Canes will pick up 30% of Jussi Jokinen's contract: ~$227K in cap for remainder of this season, $900K in cap next season.

Anyone know Gillis' twitter handle?  :)

That's not bad for Pittsburgh on Jokinen.  He of course scored a goal in his debut and added a SO goal.  SO wins don't mean much come playoffs but they certainly can help in the standings.  Having a guy like that would have been nice for the Leafs, and a 2.1M cap hit next year is kind of decent.

Useful guy to have. At that price, he's a better bang for the buck than Bozak will be.
