2014/15 Roster moves thread

I love Phil Kessel, but he would fetch more than Phaneuf.  This isn't about keeping what you want, this about maximizing all assets to rebuild.  I don't think there is any reason we can't reasonably expect both to be moved out before the start of next season.

Thing about Phil Kessel, put him in the right situation with the right line-mates and he will score 40-50 goals and be worth his contract.

Phaneuf on the other hand is exactly what he what he is: a 3-4 dman who will never be worth 7M on ANY team

Phaneuf you are going to have to take something ugly back (which is not necessarily a bad thing)

If Phaneuf is paired with an actual 1D, I think he would be well suited as the #2.  And if he was an UFA in the summer, I have no doubt he would get $7 million, maybe more.  I think you're right, the Leafs will have to take some money back, but they probably get something worthwhile as well (another first would be wonderful).

I think you should try to take back a cap dump player, or two, that have contracts that expire in the near future, rather than taking back any salary on Phaneuf.  JMHO.

Brennan's been sent back to the Marlies.

It was a small one, but he had his chance. I think everybody who wondered why he wasn't in the NHL watched him play and went "oooooooooohhhhhhh".

He'll get another chance next fall, assuming he re-signs.

I hope not. He's not an NHL player.

The Marlies need this type of journeyman player.  No?
