2015-2016 Toronto Raptors Thread: We Have "It"!

Also, it's an odd thing to mention on a day like today but the draft lottery is on Tuesday. Really it'll just decide if the Raps choose 9th or 10th but it's still an interesting draft to watch. There definitely figures to be some interesting PF's where the Raps will pick if that's the idea. Domantas Sabonis is an option, as is Skal Labissiere or Marquese Chriss.

Is 9th or 10th the best they can do? They have the Knicks pick right?
Also, can the please send JV as their representative as long as he wears that suave camoflauge sport jacket he had on at today's game?

Do playoff results affect the pick position of the Raptors own 1st rounder, or is it purely by regular season results?

Toronto  116  Miami  89.  Raptors win series 4 games to 3.

Whoa!  What a way to go!  "Twenty-one years in the making!"

The Toronto Raptors booked themselves a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals with a sound, all-round win over the overpowered and outplayed Miami Heat.

Not only were Raptors stars Lowry and DeRozan superb, but so was the rest of the backcourt which includes Bismack Biyombo who had an awesome game with some great defence & rebounding, but also Demarre Carroll, with bandaged wrist & all, providing stalwart play in both zones.

Lowry and DeRozan had a combined 63 pts,, while their teammates provided plenty of support.  Raptors were aggressive driving at the net, getting  many of their points in the paint,  around the perimeter, getting rebounds off the glass, and sharp with their three-point shooting.

Great game, great win!

They get the less favourable of Knicks and Denver, so if both of those slots win a lottery pick, the raptors could pick in the top three.

At least I think that's the case.

Just regular season results. So it's #27.

That's technically true. It's real unlikely though.

But still more likely than the Raptors beating Cleveland...?

Tough to say. I don't know the precise odds of Lebron getting hit by a bus.

Edit: Also, playing around with the Draft Lottery simulator picking 8th is a possibility if Denver's pick jumps into the top 3.

On a completely unrelated note, do you want pitch in on a Greyhound road trip to Game 1?

You're going to need a bigger bus.

So, do they have any chance against Cleveland?

I think so. Not a great one but I think people are a little blinded by Cleveland doing some pretty unsustainable shooting through the first two rounds. Obviously getting JV back would be huge and Lowry/DeRozan can't fall back into having horrible nights but the reason the Raps paid all the money they did to Carroll was to have a good defender to put on Lebron and I think the team has good defensive matchups for Love/Irving to boot.

An injury here or there, Lowry staying at the level he's been at the last few games...crazier things have happened. A lot of people didn't give the Thunder a chance against the Spurs.

Valanciunas confirmed as out for Game 1.  Doubtful for Game 2.

You are just determined to harsh my buzz, aren't you?

Honestly, at this point, I'm watching the Raptors play in the Eastern Conference Finals.  Everything is gravy at this point for me.

Let's not dissect things too much to the point of becoming delusional. You'll only be setting your \self up for disappointment. There's a severe talent discrepancy here. If Cleveland doesn't completely sweep the Raptors, they might lose one game in this series at worst.  Realistically, the Raptors should have taken care of Indiana 4-2 and Miami 4-1, instead they just barely won both series. The Thunder beating the Spurs was a bit of a surprise, but OKC has two of the best in the game and they've been a championship contender for several years.

When it became clear that this team would win 50+ games and secure the 2nd seed, anything below an ECF appearance at that point should have been a disappointment. Nevertheless, despite the unimpressive way in which they did it, this is a moment that Raptors fans should cherish and be proud of their team. It will be an intriguing off-season that's for sure. I'm not fond of the lack of ball movement, Casey's strategies late in games and DeRozan's shooting but hopefully Masai will find a way to build on this success.

Well said.

I, too,  have no grand expectations (in the Raptors beating the Cavs in this ECF).  If it happens, then wonderful.  If it doesn't, as a fan, I will have been happy with this year's playoff successes, and hopefully, for better things to Come.

What's delusional about what anyone said? Nobody has said anything other than it will be an uphill climb. The Raps have long odds. That doesn't mean it's hopeless or that fans shouldn't be looking for the positives.
