2016-2017 NHL Thread

Let's throw another semi-crazy thing out there.

Seth Griffith scores over 10 goals (pro-rated to 82 games) next season.

Sure, he'll score 1 goal (0 assists) in 8 games to achieve your goal.

I lol'd a long time.

I really want to fix up the alignment on the left eye. And maybe the circle size.

Doan is done.

So long Shane Doan. You were a pretty good player who always seemed to put his own interest in living in Arizona(or even just stability) over taking any real shots at the cup. I suppose I respect that even if for some reason people still try to pretend like winning the Cup was really important to you.

And, I guess, so long to the fun, likeable Purple-Clad Winnipeg Jets. I wish you could have given us something better than your Blue-Wearing Evil Zombie rebirth.

Doan has to be one the most overrated players of this generation. Why the media loves this guy is beyond me. Congrats on playing for a crappy team forever because you liked living in Arizona.

I think he's a little better than his raw numbers look because of generally being on a crappy team and playing his peak scoring years in a low-scoring era but even using the era adjusted numbers at hockey reference he works out to 24 goals per 82 games and 33 assists. Which, you know, isn't bad or anything.

But if he ever gets taken seriously as a HOF candidate it would be ridiculous.

Nevermind I forget about this put him in the Hall.

Now Matthews can torch Arizona when the Leafs play them and not feel bad.

We don't even need a Matthews to wreck Arizona. This goal by Nylander is why they never even got up for the rest of the season.

I don't know if it's ridiculous...he played 1540 NHL games plus 55 (ha!) playoff games.

Interestingly, according to hockeydb, he scored 978 reg. season points, plus 28 playoff points, for a grand total of 1000.

You don't get into the HHOF because of longevity alone. I think if you looked at Doan's career season by season more times than not he probably wasn't even the best player on his own team.

Yeah. He was a very good player, but not an HHOF worthy one. Career high of 78 points in a season, only cracked 30 goals twice, no major trophies or end of season All Stars, etc. His only real notable trade is that he stayed with a struggling franchise for his entire career.

I don't think he's Hall worthy but there are plenty of guys in there that were rarely their team's best player pretty much every year they played.

Fair enough, when you're teammates are other HHOFs it's acceptable. But when they're Keith Yandle or Radim Vrbata it's not.

He played with a few HOF'ers as well but I still don't think he's worthy.
