Betcha it gets sawed off at $6.10 X 6.

I think you'd have to cut the term in half for Pasta to sign at a cap hit like that.

Crazy.  Now bridge deals are going to cost $6M/yr?

Maybe it would come slightly slower than that, but it's not every day you see a 70-point player getting a bridge deal. Usually it's for guys who teams are still a little wary on because they haven't had that breakout year yet.

Detroit is really struggling to sign Andreas Athanasiou. The KHL has come knocking, and AA's agent has confirmed that the offer is significant.

I really believe that a viable European option for RFA's with no leverage and a dead offer-sheet market would be a great thing for hockey in general and, ultimately, the NHL specifically.

I still don't think the KHL is it.

For crying out loud, someone just offer sheet him already. You could even keep the compensation here in the 2nd round pick category and the Wings would still be hard pressed to match.

There's maybe a bit too much playing nice between competing teams, and competing leagues. Marek mentioned this earlier in the offseason on MvW, but it's gotten to the point where he doesn't even bat an eye at a bad UFA deal anymore because someone else will be happy to help make that go away.

RFAs with no leverage will continue to be screwed as it is in each team's best long term interest.

Next year, Detroit will have the great fun time of re-signing Larkin, Mantha, Sheahen, and Mrazek with only Green (6M) coming off the books (for now). They'll probably skip on resigning Sheahen and Mrazek.

They've got to do something to beat Edmonton.

I'd wait to hear this from a more trustworthy source. That tweet's a day old now and nobody else has picked up on it. Calgary certainly does seem like a logical fit though.

I can't believe that Zetterberg is planning bailing on making $1m in the seasons 19-20 and 20-21.

He must have caught that mysterious skin ailment that Hossa is afflicted with.

Pastrnak update:

The Bruins and the 21-year-old right winger had long been stuck in discussions on a contract in the neighborhood of six years, $36 million, but the B?s improved their offer last week to seven years, $42 million according to a report from the Boston Globe?s Kevin Paul DuPont.

"Improved" haha.

If he's not taking $6mil x 6 years why on earth would he take $6mil x 7 years. Do the Bruins know how this works?

First prize is two weeks in Boston. Second prize is three weeks.

The new comp is Leon Draisaitl. And that?s a problem for the Bruins.

[...]

There?s something absolutely delicious about Peter Chiarelli creating the Bruins? current cap situation and their current headache with Pastrnak as Leon Draisaitl?s general manager.

David Booth literally coming home to help steer the Red Wings pre-tank into the lake. And Parenteau can still definitely play with prime minutes and maybe net a decent pick at the deadline.
