2018-2019 Toronto Marlies Thread: Hail to the Champions...and Onwards!

Next year's Marlies defense depth, not including depth signings:

LDRD
Sandin
Borgman
Gordeev
O'Connell
Kral (maybe)
Liljegren
Hollowell
Duszak
Lindgren
Rasanen

I expect Subban and Corrado* to return, and LoVerde might take another 1 year deal.
* I have no information, just feeling like they'd like to keep rehabbing their game

Without some of the younger prospects heading to the ECHL, is there even really room on the roster for more than one of them? Also, I imagine the Leafs would like some NHL calibre depth guys, which Subban might be in a pinch, but I think that ship has sailed for Corrado and LoVerde.

We're probably looking at Liljegren as the first call up, and Sandin for a real call up towards the end of the year. I'd still keep LoVerde around as the veteran shepherd and shutdown specialist; he knows his role now and the Marlies pay very well and the amenities are NHL level.

Holl is still under contract and I'm guessing he's not going to have any difficulty going down waivers (one-way deal) next season given his lacklustre/of starts. LD depth from the dregs of the UFA pile are the easiest, cheapest players to acquire, and even then I wouldn't be opposed to just re-upping Marincin for a year or two at 1M AAV if he's amenable to be the pressbox guy.

Is there any indication that O'Connell is going pro next season? He's only turning 20 this April so I wouldn't be surprised if he stayed in the NCAA for another year or two. And I mean considering his stat-line thinking he'd be even a good AHLer at this point might be a bit of a stretch.

Gordeev I could see going back to the OHL for his overage season, especially since most of his OHL career was spent wasted with Flint. Possibly ditto for Kral, or he's someone who I could see starting in the ECHL.

So that clears up some spots on the left, but the right is pretty crowded. But very, very young all around so I'd agree at least one of Subban/Corrado/LoVerde will likely be back for some veteran depth. Maybe even Marincin on the understanding that he'll be earmarked for the Marlies.

Nope, I just saw 20 years old this year and thought, hey that qualifies. I think you're right, he's going to finish school.

Good article from The Athletic reposted in PPP about Brazeau, Duzack and Colt Conrad. Duzack looks real good.

PPP has a goal scored by Marchment, don't know how to copy that for ya all. But it's an amazing thing to behold.

That's def a WOW kind of goal. What an effort. I think we might just see this kid up next year.

Marchment-Petan-Moore on the Leafs? 4th line would work for me.
I think Moore has more upside then 4th liner next year but I will take it for a start.

Moore is a complementary transition winger, so he could plug and play into any line. Gotta wait for Marleau's contract to finish up or see how Johnsson's deal shakes out (I think he bridges for 1-year). I don't think Hyman gets moved (but I also don't think Dubas re-signs him when he's due).
