2018-2019 Toronto Marlies Thread: Hail to the Champions...and Onwards!

Sorry that goal was the game winner! Amazing skill.  KK as I will now call him as to say his name is beyond belief, try that after a couple of Bacardi's.  KK is probably going to take Sparks backup job away from him with this kind of goaltending. Watch the 2nd game in 6!  And you do know I love Sparks, can see him as Riemer's back up in Florida.
Bracco is sort of like Marner on speed, with most of the talent  (not quite as much), but he has a heavy need to be the star. 
Maybe this is lost on the Leafs with so many stars. Perhaps they depend on the teammates to make the great play instead of them all trying to be great. Just want to see the big team firing on all cylinders for Game 7. NO more excuses.

Thanks for posting the video Herman. What a goal. What a goal. Sick, sick, sick....if KK can keep up this kind of play, well there will be some easy decisions for the Leafs brass in the near future. Confidence is 99% of Goaltending, the other 1% of 99% of self doubt.

I think skill and athletic ability might be worth at least a couple of percentage points.

Agreed Bullfrog, I was talking more about how a great Goalie with skill and ability can sink below the waves without Confidence. Not saying Sparks is a great Goalie but he certainly did lose his confidence to be an above average Goalie.
Must say the swagger that KK has found in his game is a little Fredo Andersonish. Some of his moves remind me of Freddie, now KK lost his confidence early in the season but has been above .950 in his two playoff games.

He?s UFA so maybe they want to discuss with him about his future leanings. More pertinent to the present, his wife just gave birth a couple of weeks ago so they?re probably not rushing him back into service now that their backup requirement is gone.
 
It's pretty impressive that Hollowell played so well in his debut in a playoff clinching game.  Smart move by the coach to dress 7 defenceman too, just in case Mac was overwhelmed by the moment he had 6 others to fall back on. Luckily he played really well, there is hope in the pipeline!!
 
Really hoping Sandin can make the jump next year with Liljegren and possibly Hollowell a few years later.

Hollowell (98) is older than both Liljegren (99) and Sandin (00) so I wouldn't be surprised to see him get the earlier call as yo-yo (Rosen + Hollowell occasional bottom pair), while they nurse Sandin-Liljegren into top-pair Marlies minutes. Sandin is sort of already there minutes-wise.

I don't think age is really going to have anything to do with it. Liljegren will have 2 years of AHL hockey under his belt next season, plus 2 partial seasons of playing against men professionally in Sweden prior to that. He'll be ahead of Hollowell, an AHL rookie, on the call-up list next season.

Good points. I now recall Dubas did let out that Liljegren was going to get a late season look but his ankle injury kiboshed that. I am still wary of yo-yoing your premium prospects into limited minutes/pressbox duty so that's why I figured Hollowell would fit better.

I do see, based on our drafts and Dubas' inclinations, that our bottom-3, bottom-pairings will all likely be cheap skill players like Mac and Moore.
 
Yeah I mean at this point Kasimir deserves to start and Hutch has a baby.  He should enjoy family life during the off-season.

Age and/or time in the AHL will not decide anything. If Dubas thinks they're ready, they're coming up. In this day of the NHL, the players are all starting younger because they can handle it. I think it's black and white, either ready, or not. I won't be surprised to see both Sandin and Liljegren make the club out of training camp and if they do, that will be huge for this team.
