2018-2019 Toronto Marlies Thread: Hail to the Champions...and Onwards!

Both Hollowell and Duzak are RHD men. In two years Leaf D
Reilly-Lilypad
Muzzin-Duzak
Sandin-Hollowell
Dermot (who played like doggie do do in the Boston series).

Assuming Muzzin extends here?

Dermott was injured.

Yes, I like Dermott but forgot Rosen, which is not good as he deserves a spot,  I think extending Muzzin makes sense especially when paired with a D-Man who can move the puck. He hits and will play better when not paired with Zaitzev.

And Muzz played well with Zaitsev. He had a big influence on him. Zaitsev hadn't looked that good in a long time.

So do we want to give the Z another year at 4. something million or move in someone who may be a lot more confident moving the puck at a fraction of the price.  I just want sound confident D Men like Muzzin, or like Sandin seems to be, very deliberate with the puck.  I think next year our D will be a lot better, in two very good, and then our core forwards are only 23. Isn't that a nice scenario?

I think they have to move on from Zaitsev if they can. While I thought he played well against the Bruins overall, his puck movement is def a weak spot of his game. I think they can replace him from within. Dermott is being groomed for the right side so you could put him or Liljegren with the Muzz. I watched some Marlie action and saw him on the right side at times also. If this was Zaitsevs first year I'd be encouraged but it isn't. I don't see him improving. Now if the plan is to get rid of Babs, a new system might be beneficial to him.

Korshkov got cut from the IIHF Worlds team because Washington and Tampa are both out of the playoffs (Malkin?). Zaitsev should be joining them as well (he'll probably score 7 goals).
