2018-2019 Toronto Marlies Thread: Hail to the Champions...and Onwards!

I think he's 3rd line LW after the deadline next season, and can be a spare C there on out.

I gotta think Mikheyev or my new buddy Egor or even Moore will have better chances of supplanting Marleau on that line, and I'm not particularly jacked about any of them being there. So Engvall being there seems like a stretch.

At 6'4", he can make that reach. My estimation is predicated on Johnsson being traded at his peak value as part of a package for big name defense.

Edit: He's 6'5" now

That's a relief, but still a significant blow to our defense group.

Marincin opted to participate at the Worlds for his home country, so he was not loaned to the Marlies, making Sandin our only active LD (lol).

LD: Sandin, Borgman (out), Rosen (out)
RD: LoVerde, Liljegren, Hollowell, Subban, Oleksy, Duszak, Corrado (out, I think)

Maybe they call up Rubins or Jardine from Newfoundland if they're allowed to (I don't know), or just roll with a couple of RR pairs (Subban has played left side previously). Rasanen is working out with the development group on a PTO, so technically he can be pressed into service if desperate.

Edit: This feels very familiar.

Liljegren and Sandin are the real deals. I can see both being on the Leafs next year. Sandin doesn't look 18, so poised with the puck and plays smart. Liljegren reminds me of Rielly, always jumping up in the play. Bracco will def get a good look to. Marlies win 5-2 and only allow 16 shots. Bracco with 4 ats, Moore with 2g, 1 ast, Sandin 2ast. Lots of kids to like on that team.

I agree with your enthusiasm, but, Moore is 24, so I think he's past the kid stage.  ;)
Haha, you know what I meant.

Borgman was head hunted last night by a huge fellow with big elbows.  That should have been a suspension. Poor Borg, can't seem to get a break.  Hate to see concussion derail his future.

You?ve gotten to see [Egor] Korshkov once in practice. He looked big, didn?t he?

Keefe: He?s certainly got size and is a presence out there, for sure. But I also like how he skates and shoots the puck. He is picking up the language better than we had anticipated. Timashov is really helping with that, but also just in the one-on-one engagement with him, he has got a general idea and most importantly, seems to have a real good sense around the rink on the ice of where to go and what is required. There is somewhat of a universal language when it comes to hockey and he seems to have that figured out. That is going to really help.

Could he play tomorrow night?

Keefe: We?re going to see how it is in the morning. He?s had a lot of stuff going on here. It has been a bit of whirlwind since he arrived. Certainly, we anticipate him getting in the series here very soon ? if not tomorrow, it?ll be when we get down to Cleveland. We wanted to get him as integrated as possible and today?s practice will probably be our last practice for a while. We are going to see how he feels in the morning and make a call then.

This is a pretty weak sentence.

Borgman has a concussion history so this is promising. But I also know that concussions sometimes kick in a few days later.

I'd be very interested taking a look at Duszak.

All the Marlies games going forward are on TSN right?  Hopefully it's a good broadcast.

TSN 2 and just home games. Apparently you can also watch all the games on the Maple Leafs App.

Mac Hollowell is fantastic breaking the puck up the ice. He still needs a good deal of work when the puck is coming the other way.

He should get a lot of ice next season given Keefe will be bringing Sandin-Liljegren with him to the big club.
