The Detroit Tigers venture into a four-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre.
The Tigers, who are third in the A.L.Central division 9.5 GBL Cleveland, are also 15 GB for the second WC spot.
The Blue Jays, mired in fourth and 17 GBL NYYankees as well as 13 GB for the second WC spot, have apparently begun their house cleaning so to speak. This week they traded outfielder Steve Pearce plus cash to Boston in exchange for Santiago Espinal, a minor-leaguer.
The Jays' Josh Donaldson situation just got more complicated as JD suffered yet another injury setback while rehabbing. Looks like there's no end in sight for Donaldson's injury-laden season.
Enough negatives. Now for some positives. The Jays come off winning one out of three in their most recent road series in Houston against the World Seried Champion Astros. The Jays received some upbeat news in the pitching department as prospect Ryan Borucki pitched solidly in his Major League baseball d?but. Also, the Jays starters pitched decently save for the bullpen which couldn't hold it's own against the Astros explosive offence. Shoddy defence didn't help their cause.
The Jays have a chance to do some catching up in this Canada Day weekend series against a Detroit team that's presently on a nine game losing streak.
LET'S GO BLUE JAYS!
