A three-run homer by Justin Smoak plus a solo by Russell Martin, includibg a couple of hits by Solarte and a decent outing by starter Aaron Sanchez,  is what the Blue Jays needed in downing a resilient Twins team 7-5.

Smoak's home run in the fourth inning gave the Jays a 5-0 lead at that point,  before the Twins tried a valiant comeback which fell of course short.

Sanchez lasted six innings having given up four runs on six hits and got the win.  Osuna closed and got the save.

The Blue Jays are currently second in home runs and fifth in runs scores in the Major Leagues.

What a wild Minny party!

Talk about defensive miscues and the Twins put 'em all out on display.  It's nice that the Blue Jays were presented with opportunities and they took them gladly.

A couple of wild pitches including a no-throw by Minnesota catcher Mitch Garver factored into the Jays 7-4 victory in the 10th inning Tuesday night.

DH Kendrys Morales helped the Jays by homering twice earlier on.

Jays reliever Tyler Clippard got the win, Osuna the save.

The Blue Jay bullpen -- their relief pitchers -- sport the second-lowest ERA in the Majors Leagues at 2.28.

Ha!  The Blue Jays were shutout for the first time this season falling 4-0 to the Twins Wednesday afternoon.

Toronto however took two out of three in this series.

Jays' starter Marcus Stroman pitched reasonably well, perhaps his best outing yet in allowing two runs on six hits and striking out five.

The Jays' relievers -- Aaron Loup & Carlos Ramirez -- didn't fare too well as they both allowed one run each on bases-loaded walks.

Too bad Stroman couldn't get any offensive support from his teammates who were stymied time and again by Minnesota rookie Fernando Romero, whose fastball continually baffled the Jays hitters.

So the Blue Jays (17-13) come to Progressive Field for a doubleheader against the Cleveland Indians (16-13).  These are the make up games for the two that were postponed due to inclement weather last month.  The Blue Jays won the first of that three game series 8-4.

It will be interesting to see how Jays starting pitcher Joe Biagini fares after being called up, after a stint down on the farm with the Triple A Buffalo Bisons.  This will be Biagini's second start this year.

The Blue Jays are third in the A.L. East 5.0 GBL Boston, while the Indians are first in the A.L. Central 3.0 games up on the second-place Detroit Tigers.

LET'S GO BLUE JAYS!

The Blue Jays win one, the Blue Jays lose one.

The Jays won the first game of their doubleheader against the Indians 13-11 in extra innings, thanks to Yangervis Solarte's Grand Slam that won it for Toronto.  The Jays saw the return of Josh Donaldson, back from his rehab stint with Class A Dunedin after being taken off the 10-day DL, had a two run home run including two doubles.  Russell Martin also hit a two-run homer.

Jays' starter Jaime Garcia lasted until the third inning having allowed seven runs.  The Jays relievers didn't fare much better but limited the Indians in the runs department.

In the second game, the Jays lost 13-4 with Donaldson, Solarte, & Diaz contributing a home run each.

Jays' starter Joe Biagini didn't have a memorable outing as neither did the bullpen, relievers  Ramirez & Santos.  It was a game to forget.

Solarte's eight total hits over the two games set a franchise record.

The Jays had earlier placed Randall Grichuk on the 10-day DL.

The Toronto Blue Jays (18-14) visit Tropicana Field in Tampa Bay for a three-game series against the Rays (13-16).

The Blue Jays should have had an off-day Thursday.  Instead they had to play a doubleheader against Cleveland (to make up the two games that had been postponed last month).  Toronto came away with a split.

The Tampa Bay Rays who occupy fourth spot in the A.L.East, 8.0 GBL Boston, have currently won ten of their last fourteen games.  This for a team that started the season on a lowly note.

The Jays are third in A.L.East, 4.0 GBL Boston.  With the way the Jays pitching was bombarded in that doubleheader with Cleveland, better and more consistent performances are expected from their starters in a bid to spare the weary bullpen.

LET'S GO BLUE JAYS!

I would say THAT innings against Texas and his home run and bat flip is in my top 5 live viewed sporting moments of all time

The Blue Jays lost their second game of this series to the Rays 5-3 on Saturday.  (This cones on the heels of a 6-2 loss Friday night).

Deapite a home run each by Teoscar Hernandez and Lourdes Gurriel Jr., it simply wasn't enough for Toronto, as the Rays got to Jays' starter Aaron Sanchez early.

Sanchez lasted a little over three innings having allowed four runs.

It was the Jays eighth loss in twelve games, and the fact that Tropicana Field here in Tampa Bay has historically held negative results for the Blue Jays.

The Jays will try to prevent aTampa sweep Sunday.

Blue Jays stave off a Tampa series sweep on Alex Colome's wild pitch that alloeed Kevin Pillar to score from third.  Pillar had doubled to start the ninth inning, went to third courtesy of Morales grounder,, and scored on thw wild pitch.

Jays' starter Marco Estrada pitched until the sixth inning with the Blue Jays up 1-0.  Estrada allowed just four hits.  He was relieved by Tepera who allowed the Rays to tie it in the eighth.  Roberto Osuna got the save closing out the ninth.

Bad news on the injury front, as Aledmys Diaz suffered a sprained ankle.  He joins Curtis Granderson out with a hamstring sprain.

The Jays have an off-day Monday.

Osuna charged with assault on a woman in the early hours of Tuesday. (As per The Athletic Twitter). No further details as yet.

Definitely appears to be a domestic incident involving his girlfriend.

So, you know, that's not good.
