The back to backs are nice. I wonder if the league will try to include more home-and-home sets for divisional matchups moving forward, when (if?) they can get back to a more traditional schedule.

If anything it's exciting to be all Canada all the time. I really appreciate the prolonged look at Canada's western teams. We don't get to see them enough with regional restrictions and late time zones.Arn said:I'm kinda liking the structure of this season, 2 games v Edmonton, then 2 v Calgary, 2 more v Edmonton again, 3 v Vancouver coming up.
Not sure if I'd buy into it long term but it's fun for something different.

Arn said:Yes - that's actually probably the main reason for the Belfast double headers, one set of flights to and from Belfast rather than two and a hotel stay you'd be having anyway so I'd say it's bound to.
If the divisions go back to the original alignment maybe they'll juggle the number of games in and out of division as well going forward?
Nik said:Could be. I wonder if the trade-off is that it might be harder to sell tickets to two games in a row against a less exciting opponent than spacing things out. Be interesting to see how it shakes out.
PHX VS ANH last night... 1-0. Big rematch Thursday, good luck selling tickets to that game.Nik said:Arn said:Yes - that's actually probably the main reason for the Belfast double headers, one set of flights to and from Belfast rather than two and a hotel stay you'd be having anyway so I'd say it's bound to.

That did seem to be the main pushback from teams and the league in that article I mentioned. And teams want games against the McDavid/Matthews/Crosby's of the league more spread out in their schedule. I'm not sure that makes sense but the NHL's popularity does have the momentum of a runaway freight train so who are we to question their marketing geniuses.
Highlander said:Campbell out for weeks, are these weeks on earth, like how many or are these weeks on Jupiter or Neptune? It's like they want us to be ignorant that this could end up like 6 weeks or 8 weeks instead of 2 months.
Yes we know Hutch is our backup. And we know how to hold our breath for 2 1/2 hours at time.

I feel like everyone's really focussed in on Vesey and, sure Mikhayev is more versatile, but wow, that is a bad start.

He's fallen into the Grabner/Kapanen archetype of speedy players who get lots of chances but don't finish. His last season numbers suggest he can put up points so hopefully he starts getting some breaks.

Has anyone said how bad Hyman's been because he has the same amount of even strength points? Hyman is the worst player, that has a point, on the team for ES Points/60 mins and keep in mind he was getting shifts with the top 2 lines, Mikheyev wasn't until last night.Bender said:Has anyone noticed Mikhayev has only 1pt in 8 games?

A bad start is a bad start. How can you have a large sample at the "start"?wnc096 said:CarltonTheBear said:Bender said:Has anyone noticed Mikhayev has only 1pt in 8 games?

Hess also coming back from an extremely serious injury to his hand. Doesn't affect his legs. A larger sample size is warranted
