Overpaid bum

That is a pretty remarkable stat.  Marner does have the advantage of playing with Matthews though.  Did Kurri or Jagr play with anyone decent?
Heh, nice. But, honestly, if you?d asked me where Marner might slot among the fastest wingers to hit 300 assists, I would have guessed it to have been top 20-30 at best, without really thinking about who might slot ahead of him. This is honestly quite amazing.

I am going to miss Mikheyev when they can?t resign him next year.
The Leafs can keep him if they want to... Depends on the ask but salary can be moved out.
Souperman can take Kerfoot's money and after we send Muzzin to Robidas Island we will have even more.

Abruzzese has been officially added to the Leafs roster. Wonder if he gets in tomorrow to spark that 4th line. Originally I thought no but he did go to school near Boston. We'll see tomorrow.

K who?s broken

Emergency recalls so they don?t count against our recall max (2/4 used already on Liljegren and Mrazek)

skill and hockey IQ, regardless of size, was the emphasis for the Leafs in the 2019 draft.

?We have a real tight criteria in terms of the type of players we?re looking for,? Leafs GM Kyle Dubas said at the conclusion of the 2019 draft. ?Especially not having a (first-round pick) you worry that puts a little bit too much pressure on the scouts. We tried to relieve that by just saying ?Here are the types of guys we?re looking for.??

They were betting on players with pre-existing skill, including Nick Robertson, and hoped they would physically mature, could be fine-tuned with their continually improving development staff, taught to manipulate the opposition with their smaller frames and make an impact offensively. Doing so could lead to these players being steals in the draft.

Hence the Ty Voit, Roni Hirvonen, Mikhail Abramov, Semyon Der-Arguchintsev vibes

Don't be cowards, Leafs. Give us:
Shooter McGavins: Knies - Matthews - Nylander
The TO line: Bunting - Tavares - Marner
Tall Boys: Engvall - Kampf - Mikheyev
Harvard Nerds: Abbruzzese - Kerfoot - Blackwell

In case you wonder later why we have a moose and a bear on the team

Edit: we also have a greasy rat, a cobra, a giraffe, and Garfield.

Anyone thinking that maybe the NHL's position on officiating (don't even touch the subject) has something to do with the gambling side of things?

I guess but I think the bigger issue is more that the optics of consistently terrible calls are more likely to create concern within the gambling sector than the league striving to improve their officiating.

There is a difference between saying "our officials suck" and "we want to provide more tools for our officials to improve upon the job they already do"

The standard argument is always that the game is so far.  That's pretty much an admission that the officials can't keep up with the pace of play. I don't blame them for that.  Put an official high up off the ice to catch some of those plays behind or give context to the on-ice guys when the turn around and see a guy lying on the ice.

Harvard #16. These no longer go in the prospects thread while he?s on the roster I guess

Bird ref is the way to go. Give him/her a ?whistle? over the PA. Then they can go with one fewer ref on the ice (since there is such a massive shortage with injuries and abuse). Some refs can extend their careers this way. On-ice ref can get priority on judgment calls.

Segment on the NHL GMs meetings

Someone made Kyle Davidson address concerns about media leaks from his office lol
One GM literally tabled an agenda item for it (I wonder who????)
