2021-22 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

Marner looked good the last couple of games but it's funny that 3 points in 9 games is Marner turning it around after 1 point in 7 games.  I saw more than a few comments complaining about Matthews effort.  The threshold for complaining about Marner and Matthews is getting ridiculous.

If Matthews doesn't have a game tomorrow night, I think it'll start...at least to the boxscore watchers.

Marner isn't hearing it right now because he's got a point in the last 2 games...but Nylander is probably going to hear it soon too after his start as he's only got 2 points in his last 5.

It?s funny you say boxsxore watchers - sat evening my brother messages me ?so the leafs beat the wings but it was 5-4 so that?s not that great? and I replied to him ?you didn?t watch the game at all did you?? And he says no.

A box score does not indicate quality of play.

I'm guilty of it from time to time of "box score" watching as well but I generally lead with "Eesh, only 5-4 vs the Wings.....Was it really that close?"

Sandin has done well so far and I'm really liking what Liljegren is bringing also. He's shown me so far that he's a legit NHL D man.

Just a quick programming note in case it comes up and you missed it at the beginning of the season: K?llgren is pronounced shal-Gren similar to how Oliver Kylington is pronounced shilling-Ton.

A young guy please....let's see them play.

I'm all for getting Woll or Kallgren some looks, but, if this is going to be a long-term/frequent issue, I'd like the see the team add a veteran backup. The younger guys development isn't well served by being backups at the NHL level when they can get regular playing time with the Marlies.

Agreed although I think I'm done with seeing Hutchison start games.  He had an ok year last year but I don't trust him at all to not have a game where he implodes and cant' stop routine shots.

Kallgren's 25 years old and has been playing professional hockey in Sweden for 6 years. Not saying he's NHL-caliber but he's the guy who should be seen as the teams #3 goalie. Throwing Woll into a NHL game right now just feels like a recipe for disaster.

Also I know the team doesn't have a ton of back-to-back's over the next 4 weeks but I still really hope they don't run Campbell into the ground during Mrazek's absence.

Campbell getting injured is my concern here.  He's already played a bunch so far.
