2021 Offseason Moves

That Wenneberg deal is also something. Seattle blew a big opportunity to start with a really good team.

Or at least bank lots of prospects for two very nice draft classes coming up. Doing neither is quite the choice.

Yeah that's exactly it. They've crafted a perfect 9th/10th place team with no great prospect base (that still might make the playoffs because their division sucks).

Jesus. A lot of people owe Justin Holl an apology.

NHL GMs are bad at their job...aren't they.

I don't understand how we go from a flat cap last year with everyone being terrified of spending money to now throwing out big cap numbers to bottom 6 forwards and 3rd pairing defensemen in the exact same flat cap environment.

This is insane.

Ok and then this one somehow comes in fairly reasonably (although I was very surprised to see Tampa barely play him in the playoffs so maybe he's fallen off a little).

Damn

850k AAV, frigging lightning.

I know good accounting can fix some of the tax stuff but that discrepany needs to be fixed in the next CBA.  That being said, I completely understand him making this move.  He signed a good deal with us.  Had a good year but couldn't see his family for a year.  Then Tampa hangs out with him celebrating their second cup because they couldn't do that last year.  Would feel like a good environment to be but I hate that Tampa constantly gets guys below market value.  And then other teams bend over backwards to help them out of cap trouble.
